American Mixed Martial Arts Fight Leagu (AMMAFL) Ready to Blow Off the Roof on September 30

Poster coming soon!

Hard hitting MMA action returns to the Newtown Athletic Club in Newtown, Pennsylvania as the American MMA Fight League (AMMAFL) presents MMA FIGHT NIGHT III, September 30 live on the GFL Combat Sports Network.  Coming off the heels of a very successful show in June, AMMAFL is once again ready to present another great night of exciting fights for the MMA fans on the East Coast and around the world.

American MMA Fight League is promoting its third event in the promotion’s short history and in that time it has created a buzz for itself and established itself as a proving ground for some of the top up and coming MMA athletes on the East Coast.  AMMAFL events always feature a great mix of knockouts, submission and hotly contested decisions.  The growing organization is quickly gaining a stranglehold on the often overlooked hotbed of MMA, which is Pennsylvania.  Promoter Jim McCann believes FIGHT NIGHT 3 will raise the bar even more for MMA fans and give the audience another first-class night of fights.

"I think Fight Night 3 is going to be our best show to date," he said.  "We've got some really top notch local Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York metro fighters.  Everyone is relatively local so that helps with ticket sales and excitement. We've got guys like Chris Wing, who's a phenomenal fighter out of Philadelphia.  He's fighting Jason Lee.  Jason fought on our last two cards.  Unfortunately he came up short but he's a tremendous, exciting fighter. And I don't think his record shows exactly how good of a fighter he is.  And we have some other top guys that I think are not only going to be exciting for the fight but really drive a good crowd in there."

Another featured bout includes Jesus “Chavo” Martinez (6-1) who battles Caleb Ball (6-3) in a middleweight bout.  The Pennsylvanian Martinez should have the hometown crowd behind him as he battles the Virginian Ball.  Martinez is looking to prove that he is ready for a title shot and is coming off of a knockout victory in his last fight.  Ball is on a two-fight win streak himself and would love nothing more than to shut down Martinez’s plans.  Both fighters have a strong ground game, but have been known to bang it out on their feet.  Expect fireworks from these two as they will be looking to make a statement at the other’s expense.  The winner of this bout should really gain career momentum and a victory here might propel the winner to a shot with a nationally televised organization.

A bout that is sure to rock the undercard is between Casey Adams (2-3) and Allen Otto (1-1) in what should be a hotly-contested welterweight bout.  Both fighters are coming off disappointing split decision losses, so you can be they are going to do everything in their power to not let this fight go to a judges’ decision.  Expect both Adams and Otto to light into each other early and look for a way to win by submission or TKO at the beginning of the fight.  Don’t blink because this bout could be over quickly.

Dan "The Beast" Severn will also be in attendance as the former UFC Champion and Hall of Famer will be having a meet and greet before the action kicks off in the ring and also teaching a four-hour MMA seminar at McCann’s gym, located right next to the arena on October 2.

Be sure to check out this rising promotion, the American Mixed Martial Arts Fight League, on pay-per-view, exclusively on the GFL Combat Sports Network at GFL.tv.  See for yourself why the MMA fans of the area are clamoring for more AMMAFL events as FIGHT NIGHT III comes to you live on September 30.

Lucha Xtreme - Raging Heat Event Review

Poster coming soon!

Lucha Xtreme (LX) returned to action and made an instant impact on the Indy wrestling scene with their most recent show, Raging Heat, the debut iPPV on the GFL Combat Sports Network. Lucha Xtreme left no doubt that it owns the market when it comes to mixing hardcore wrestling and high flying lucha libre. The Fresno audience was packed in like sardines to see the stars of Lucha Xtreme and the wrestlers did not disappoint. Raging Heat was an eye opener for many fans new to Lucha Xtreme and sets the tone for this extreme lucha pro wrestling organization's future pay-per-views.

In the main event, "The Samoan Savage" Skulu defeated Sabbath in a battle of giants after a hard hitting bout. The finish came when Skulu climbed up to the second rope and executed a perfect body splash directly on Sabbath's mid-section. The ring almost broke from such impact as there was easily 650 lb of combined weight between the two wrestlers in the ring. The force of the airborne Skulu, who resembled a 747, was enough to send Sabbath back to Los Angeles a loser as Skulu got the cover and pinfall victory. After Sabbath dished out a beat down to Skulu while the latter was watching his son hit baseballs you had to believe Skulu would come into this match with a blood vengeance. He did just that dishing out punishing punches and suplexes as only a wild Samoan could. For Sabbath, even his massive size and brawling style was not enough to overcome the determined "Samoan Savage".

In other action, NWA and WCW legend the "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez defeated Grimes the Ripper after the Flying Burrito. Grimes was getting the better of Fernandez the entire bout, using his youth to wear down the cagey veteran. But then the "Raging Bull" got a second wind out of nowhere, hit Grimes with a few punches and landed his trademark finisher to send Grimes down for the mat where Fernandez won the pin. The crowd erupted as this legend showed he still has a lot to offer inside of the squared circle.

Watch the future legends of tomorrow compete today. Nobody does hardcore wrestling like Lucha Xtreme! LX has locked up the west coast and Hispanic market when it comes to presenting pro wrestling at its most EXTREME and now it is ready to take over the world. Witness all the mayhem and carnage where violence is the name of the game. Order Lucha Xtreme - Raging Heat exclusively on the GFL Combat Sports Network at GFL.tv.

Hard Knock Fighting Championship - School of Hard Knocks 15 Event Preview

Poster coming soon!

Western Canada’s top MMA promotion is back as Hard Knocks Fighting Championship brings School of Hard Knocks 15, to the Turvey Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on October 7. The action packed 12-bout card is the top proving ground for amateur MMA in Western Canada and several exciting matchups have been booked for a great night of fighting action.

In the main event, Trevor Anderson (3-0) from Cranked MMA battles Angus Deschambeault from Savage Combat MMA (7-0) in a featherweight contest of undefeated fighters.  Both fighters take their perfect records into this bout with everything on the line.  The winner will be in the mix for the 145 lb Hard Knocks title.  For Anderson, he likes to push the pace in his bouts and will be looking to end the fight early in overwhelming fashion.  For Deschambeault, he fights a more meticulous fight, but is always ready to capitalize on his opponents’ weakness.  Deschambeault also has more than twice the experience and cage time as Anderson and will look to take Anderson into deep waters the longer the fight goes. This main event will be nonstop action from bell to bell.

In co-main event, Jules Beardy (2-2) fighting out of Ultimate Muay Thai faces Rylee Jaasund (1-0) from the Underground Training Center in a welterweight contest.  Beardy will most likely try to keep the fight standing, which is always a crowd pleaser, and utilize his top-rated kickboxing.  The newcomer Jaasund will be looking for whatever advantage he can find, and that might be on the mat, so look for Jaasund to try and land a takedown early in the contest to get Beardy off of his feet.  This match could be a great clash of styles and when that happens you never know what the outcome will be.

In another featured bout, Randall Martell (2-2) from Independent fighting locks up with Riley Molyneaux (2-1) from Dynamic MA in a welterweight contest.  Both Martell and Molyneaux are highly praised prospects and this bout should be full throttle from the opening bell as both men try to impose their will on their opponent and prove to everyone who the top up and comer in Hard Knock Fighting Championship really is.

Don’t miss this electrifying event featuring Western Canada’s finest MMA athletes competing in front of a packed house at the Turvey Centre in Regina.   Hard Knocks Fighting Championship always produces great fights and this event will be no different.  Watch all of the fights LIVE on October 7 as Hard Knock Fighting Championship presents School of Hard Knocks 15 on pay-per-view only at GFL.tv!

Blackeye Promotions V - Breast Cancer Beatdown Event Preview

Poster coming soon!

Blackeye Promotions returns October 1 with Blackeye Promotions VBreast Cancer Beatdown at the WNC AG Center in Fletcher, North Carolina ready to deliver another night of explosive fights to the crowd and all for a good cause to boot.   Blackeye is donating a large portion of the proceeds of the 9-bout card to the charity, It Ain’t Chemo, to benefit all cancer research and those affected by the disease.

With the current landscape of Women’s MMA being on shaky ground, Blackeye Promotions is stepping up to the plate to keep the budding sport alive and thriving.  In the main event, Strikeforce vet Roxanne Modafferi (14-6) will battle Barb Honchak (4-1) in a 125 lb bout.  Modafferi has fought a who’s who of the top females on the MMA circuit but has been out of the public spotlight since her last bout with Strikeforce which was for the title.  Now she is ready to kick-start her career back into high gear with the bout against Honchak.  Modafferi has shown she is dangerous with submissions and has knockout power.  She is a tough draw for anyone in her weight class.  For Honchak, this will be her fourth fight in 2011 and the other three have all been victories.  Honchak will look to continue her streak against Modafferi.  This is a premium cable type of event.  You won’t find a better matchup of female gladiators in any other promotion.  Watch as these two women show that MMA is not just a boys club anymore.

In another high stakes event, Chelsea Colarelli (6-2) fights Patricia Vidonic (3-1) in an exciting 125 lb bout.  Colarelli is on a five-fight win streak, all by submission or knockout, and holds another organization’s title belt already.  She is the real deal on the ground and a proficient standup striker as well.  Vidonic holds a three-fight win streak herself and is also a champion from a different organization.  The winner of this contender’s bout might be next in line to face the winner of the Modafferi VS Honchak bout, and for fans of MMA that is a great thing.

Blackeye Promotions VBreast Cancer Beatdown will be a great card and will also have a great cause attached to it.  Don’t miss this exciting, progressive, event, as the women of MMA take center stage to battle each other inside of the cage, while the money raised will go to fight cancer.  The only way to watch this exciting 9-bout card is to order it exclusively through the GFL Combat Sports Network at GFL.tv.  Order now.

Lucha Xtreme - Raging Heat Event Preview

Poster coming soon!

Lucha Xtreme (LX) is back and this event promises to be its most extreme show yet as the hardcore wrestling promotion is set to make its world-wide debut on the GFL Combat Sports Network on September 25 from the downtown Fresno Bankers Ballroom.  Lucha Xtreme has garnered a great following by bringing in some of the best international stars and showcasing them on its TV tapings and now the organization is ready to take the next step in its evolution and promote its first ever pay-per-view, Raging Heat, on GFL.tv.  Raging Heat is sure to continue Lucha Xtreme’s distinctive brand with the storylines and showmanship of American wrestling mixed with the high flying, athletic, pageantry, Mexican style of lucha libre.

In the main event, "The Samoan Savage" Skulu battles Sabbath.  Skulu will look to bring his unique brand of power and pain that was honed on the Pacific Islands and dish out his beatings to the maniacal Sabbath.  “The Samoan Savage” is the most recent pro wrestlers in a long lineage of Polynesian wrestlers that includes The Rock, Haku, Afa and Sika and Meng to be regarded as the toughest man in the locker room full of tough men.  His tolerance for pain will be tested in this match because word around the Lucha Xtreme circles is Sabbath is pulling out all of the stops and prepared to go to hell and back to destroy the future legend, Skulu.   Sabbath has made the promise to himself that even if he is destroyed in the process, “The Samoan Savage” will not walk away from this match on his own accord.

In the co-main event, NWA and WCW legend the “Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez battles Grimes the Ripper in a battle the legend has been wanting for some time.   What Fernandez gives up in speed and agility he makes up with in experience and orneriness.  As a professional of several decades the “Raging Bull” still believes he has enough in the gas tank to turn the lights out for good on Grimes.  For Grimes, this is an opportunity to defeat a legend and become the new Legend Killer and start his ascent through the Lucha Xtreme ranks.  There is no telling what is going to happen when these two wrestlers from different generations collide in the squared circle.

Impact Zone Wrestling (IZW) - Danny Hodge Invitational Event Review

Poster coming soon!

Impact Zone Wrestling (IZW) delivered a action-packed night of professional wrestling as the Danny Hodge Invitational was a memorable event that featured great matches.  Witness one of America’s fastest rising pro wrestling organizations while it also honors one of the sports very best.  The event was near-capacity as the fans swarmed into the Impact Arena in Lawton, Oklahoma to be a part of this historic night for IZW and its fan base.

In the main event, Impact, Inc. (Jeff Wolfenbarger, Michael Barry, Randy Price, & IZW Champion Jermaine Johnson) defeated Johnny Z, Aaron Neil, Brent Albright, & IZW Impact Division Champion Double D (w/ Erica) in a slobberknocker of a match.  There was mass chaos from bell to bell both inside and outside of the ring and things got weirder when Jeff Wolfenbarger got the pin on his own brother Johnny Z after Z’s teammate Brent Albright double-crossed Z and delivered a suplex that left Johnny Z helpless in the ring for the easy cover.  Albright then signaled his allegiance with Impact, Inc. by raising a shirt sporting the Inc’s logo.  From there, things got worse for Johnny Z’s team as there was a five on three advantage for Impact, Inc.

In Tag Team Tournament action, Kenny Campbell and Dustin Heritage won an 8-team tag tournament to claim the Danny Hodge Cup along with a $1,000 in cash.  Campbell and Heritage proved their mettle as they had to defeat the IZW Tag Team Champions, The Old School Suckas, in the finals.   In the semis Campbell and Heritage defeated The Future Hall of Famers and then it was on to face the best tag team in IZW.  The Suckas showed why they are the promotion’s champions, but it was not their night and a new team announced their arrival onto the scene in stunning fashion.  This will likely set up a future Tag Team Title Match down the line between the Tourney Champs Campbell and Heritage facing the belt holders, The Old School Suckas.

Along with the aforementioned great matches there was also a dog collar match that got the fans at the Impact Arena riled up.  Don’t miss this great pay-per-view that showcases some of the best Indy wrestlers in the Mid-South as IZW presents the Danny Hodge Invitational exclusively through the GFL Combat Sports Network at GFL.tv.

In the main event, Reality Fighting Heavyweight Champion Parker Porter (5-2) defends his belt against former UFC Heavyweight Title Challenger Gabriel “Napao” Gonzaga (11-6).  Gonzaga last competed for a title inside the Octagon against Randy Couture at UFC 74.  The Brazilian transplant, Gonzaga, will be looking to win his first MMA Championship in his stellar career.  For the Champ, Porter, he is looking to make a statement against the one-time hottest heavyweight prospect in the sport.  Porter is a hulk of a man who usually has the size and strength advantage.  Gonzaga will be the first opponent Porter fights who equals him in strength and stature.  Look for Porter to be throwing haymakers from the opening bell with Gonzaga looking for a takedown to try and finish the fight on the mat.

In the co-main event, the Reality Fighting Lightweight Title will also be on the line when Champion Matt Bessette (7-2) defends against #1 contender Joe Proctor (6-1).  Bessette is on a 4-fight win streak and will look to keep that momentum and his title against the tough and determined Proctor who is on a two-fight win streak of his own and has only tasted defeat once in his career.  Both gladiators bring a high-paced style into the cage and are known for their grappling skills and ability to finish fights with submissions.  Expect this match to be a grappling clinic if it goes to the ground.  It could also be a wild brawl if the two decide to keep it standing.

In the remaining title fight of the night, undefeated Reality Fighting Bantamweight Champion John McLaughlin (4-0) faces undefeated challenger Emil Haddad (2-0).  McLaughlin is coming off of an impressive victory with Bellator and is now ready to defend his Reality Fighting Title.  For Haddad, this could be a career-defining fight in his short tenure as a victory over McLaughlin would not only make him the new champion at 135 lb, it would also turn a lot of heads and propel Haddad to the top of the food chain in the  Bantamweight division on the East Coast.

Ring of Honor - Death Before Dishonor IX Event Review

Poster coming soon!

Ring of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor IX was another great outing by the #1 cutting edge professional wrestling organization in North America and really set the table for ROH’s big jump into its weekly national television program that is set to debut later this month on the Sinclair Broadcast Group of channels throughout the country.  Death Before Dishonor IX was a stacked 7-bout card that featured excellent matches from top to bottom and gave the fans great in-ring work that ROH is famous for.

In the main event, The All Night Express (Rhett Titus and Kenny King) defeated the Briscoe Brothers (Mark and Jay) in a bloody and death defying Ladder War III.  The match was chalk full of wild exchanges and jaw-dropping moves by all four men that left you feeling like you had just ridden the world’s wildest rollercoaster after it was all over.  To their credit, Titus and King earned a future title shot for the ROH World Tag Team Titles when Kenny King, standing atop the ladder, grabbed the contract that was hanging above the ring.  With all of the damage Titus and King dished out and received, it’s anyone’s guess as to when they will be ready to compete for the championship belts.

In the co-main event, in a Ringmaster Challenge – 2 out of 3 Falls Match it was a battle of former ROH World Champions as Eddie Edwards defeated Roderick Strong after additional time was needed to determine a winner in the third fall.  After each grappler scored a win in the first 2 matches (pinfall and submission), the final match, an Iron Man Match went the distance, indicating the contest would be ruled a draw.    But Jim Cornette came out to the ring and ordered the match to continue until a winner was decided.  After a series of near falls and Edwards and Strong trading stiff shots, Edwards finally got the pin when he delivered a merciless series of powerbombs, a clothesline and a cradle driver.  This sets up a rematch between ROH Champion Davey Richards and the man he beat for the title, Eddie Edwards.  If their future match is anything like their previous matches, pro wrestling fans are in for another treat when the American Wolves lock up again.

Catch all of the action, including the World’s Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin and Charlies Haas) in rare singles action as Ring of Honor presents Death Before Dishonor IX, coming from the sold out Manhattan Center in New York, New York.  DBD IX is the final pay-per-view before ROH goes national with its new television deal.  Don’t miss all of the action and storylines to come out of this exciting event that will get you ready for the ROH debut on the national scene. Ultimate Reno Combat 27 - Unequaled Event Preview

Poster coming soon!

Northern Nevada’s premier cage fighting event returns as Ultimate Reno Combat 27 presents Unequaled LIVE on September 16 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada.  Be there live to watch this 10-fight attraction and if you can’t make it to Reno watch online at the GFL Combat Sports Network at GFL.tv.

In the main event, Lightweight Champion Delorean "D-Lo" Heaivilin (7-0) will defend his title against challenger Brandon Ricetti (3-1) in what will be a hotly contest matchup of Ultimate Reno Combat veterans.  Heaivilin is an undefeated grappler/striker who is a fan favorite among the Reno crowd for his fast-paced fighting style.  All 7 of Heaivilin’s wins have come via stoppage either TKO or submission so he will look to continue that streak on September 16.  For the up and coming Ricetti he will have to stay composed in the early going, and weather the storm that Heaivilin is sure to bring in the opening round.  Ricetti himself is a proficient submission artist with outstanding hands and this should be a great battle for the 155 lb Ultimate Reno Combat Title.

The Bantamweight Championship is up for grabs in the co-main event as Champion Brandon Frunk (9-2) defends against Rodney Canlas (1-0).  For Brunk, this will be his first title defense since winning the title back in April at Ultimate Reno Combat 24.  Brunk is on a 4-fight winning streak and looks to make it number 5 against newcomer Canlas who won by armbar in his only fight.  For Brunk this matchup is more difficult than first glance because he will have a difficult time scouting Canlas and his tendencies, so Brunk will have to rely on his years of experience and cage time.  For Canlas, he has the benefit of going into the fight as a somewhat unknown and will look to showcase his whole skill set in the title fight.

In other action, Corey "Agnarr" Wyatt (9-2) fights Albert Townsend (0-3) in a battle of light heavyweights, while Jesse Romero (1-1) battles Lucas Davis (2-0) in a lightweight tilt.

Watch the champions of tomorrow compete today!  Don’t miss this loaded event with 10 bouts as Northern Nevada’s only cage-fighting organization, Ultimate Reno Combat 27 presents Unequaled on September 16 live on pay-per-view and exclusively on GFL.tv.

Rumble in the Cage - RITC 44 Event Preview

Poster coming soon!

Western Canada’s premier cage fighting event returns on September 23 as Rumble in the Cage presents RITC 44 at the Lethbridge Exhibition - South Pavillion, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada with 9 exciting bouts.  Rumble in the Cage is a breeding ground for the international promotions and RITC 44 will showcase some of the rising amateur and professional mixed martial artists soon to hit the national scene.

In the main event, Dan Chambers (16-16) fights Brandon MacArthur (5-17) in a middleweight bout.  Both are veterans inside of the cage and have fought some of the toughest Canada has to offer.  Chambers is on a two-fight win stream winning via TKO in Round 1 in both, and will look to carry that momentum into this bout and improve his record past .500.  Look for Chambers to come out swinging and try to get another early stoppage.  For MacArthur, he finds himself on the opposite side of the coin, losing his last two.  Expect MacArthur to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Chambers in hopes of starting his own winning streak at Chambers’ expense.  All of MacArthur’s victories have come via submission so if the fight gets to the ground expect MacArthur to try and isolate an arm, leg or the neck.

In the co-main event, Jared Kilkenny (9-8) battles Moise Rimbon (17-9-3) in a heavyweight battle.  Kilkenny is more of a banger, while Rimbon likes to strike but also has a great ground game, finishing two of his last three opponents with submissions.  Kilkenny is the smaller of the two and should have better cardio conditioning going into the fight, so his game plan might focus on trying to wear out the bigger Rimbon.  For Rimbon, he has fought a bevy of champions including Alistair Overeem, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira  and Ricco Rodriguez.  Expect him to use is experience advantage and try to overpower Kilkenny in the early going.  Don’t blink when these two brahma bulls get in the cage. There should be fireworks from the opening bell.

Don’t miss this event as Rumble in the Cage, Western Canada’s most prolific MMA organization, presents RITC 44 on September 23, exclusively on GFL.tv.  Order it NOW!

Ring of Combat XXXVII Event Review

Poster coming soon!

Ring of Combat returned with the 37th installment of the popular East Coast MMA promotion as Ring of Combat XXXVII gave the fans 3 exciting title fights on an 11-bout card.  All  11 bouts ended in finishes with spectacular knockouts and submissions.  This event was definitely a crowd-pleaser and a very rare opportunity for the fans to get to see stoppages in every bout.

In the main event, Deividas Taurosevicious (13-5) submitted Ronnie Rogers (9-6) via rear naked choke in Round 2 to win the 145 lb ROC Title.  Taurosevicious, who has fought for a variety of top organizations in his career, including Bellator, WEC and the IFL, finally got a chance to put gold around his waist to the cheers of the crowd.  Taurosevicious, who played professional rugby in his home country of Lithuania, proved too much for the determined Rogers, who was a late replacement, but a deserving challenger for the featherweight belt.  A Renzo Gracie student, Taurosevicious was able to control the ground fighting and finally secured the choke midway through round two for the victory.

In a rematch for the ROC Lightweight Championship, Champion Al Iaquinta (6-0-1) defeated Gabriel Miglioli (2-3) by TKO in Round 1 to prove to everybody that he is the best at 155 lb in the ROC cage.  The two fought earlier in the year with Iaquinta winning by split decision, but there would be no debate after this bout.  Iaquinta attacked at the bell and landed hard punches that forced the referee stoppage less than 30 seconds into the bout.

In the other title fight, Tom DeBlass (5-0) remained undefeated as he beat TUF alum Mike Stewart (5-3) to win the ROC Light Heavyweight Title via TKO in Round 1.  After a brief stint on the mat started by a strong takedown by Stewart in which he ended up in DeBlass’ guard, both men got to their feet and starting throwing haymakers.   DeBlass found a home for his left hook and dropped Stewart and then finished up with a couple strikes on the ground for the victory.  DeBlass is a blue-chipper who trains with some of the best in the world including Renzo Gracie and Ricardo Almeida so look for  more big things from this fighter.

You won’t find a more action-packed fight card then this.  ROC went 11 for 11 with stoppages, and there wasn’t a boring fight among the group.   Some of the best fighters in the world have fought in the Ring of Combat cage, and this card is stacked full of some of the top prospects soon to make a splash on the national scene. Be sure to catch all of the action as Ring of Combat presents ROC XXXVII exclusively on video on demand at GFL.tv.

Exciting Rematch Heads Ring of Combat XXXVII Card

Poster coming soon!

ROC - Ring of Combat XXXVII
Friday September 9, 2011 @ 8:30pm (ET)
Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey
Live on the GFL Combat Sports Network at GFL.tv

Ring of Combat returns September 9 with ROC XXXVII.  This show is chalk full of great matchups including  3 titles up for grabs in what will no doubt be another tremendous event promoted by the East Coast giant at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey and on pay-per-view through the GFL Combat Sports Network.  ROC continues to be the linchpin of East Coast MMA and this 15-bout card exceeds even the high standards that ROC has set for itself.

In the main event of the night, undefeated Al Iaquinta (5-0-1) fights Gabriel Miglioli (2-2) for the ROC Lightweight Championship.  This fight is coming off the heels of a fight the two had earlier this year at ROC XXXVI on June 17 where Iaquinta won via split decision.  It was such a close fight, ROC decided to do it one more time, this time with the title at stake.  The 24 year old, New Yorker, Iaquinta, is a Matt Serra trained fighter and a proficient grappler who will be looking for a variety of submissions in an attempt to quiet his critics with a decisive win in the rematch.  Having the former UFC Welterweight Champion, Serra, in his corner giving instructions will also help Iaquinta in the cage as Serra has done everything there is to do in this sport.  Iaquinta might need all the help he can get because he will be facing the toughest opponent of his career in the determined challenger Miglioli.

For the 30 year old, Maryland native, Miglioli, who has both his victories via TKO and one of his defeats coming via DQ for delivering an illegal knee to a downed opponent, he will look to rely on his strengths which are his punching power and aggression inside of the cage.  With a chip on his shoulder from the last fight, Miglioli believes he has never been beaten in MMA and will look to prove that point with an exclamation point in the rematch.  For Miglioli, the best way to accomplish that is to let his hands fly and not leave it up to the judges.

If fight fans are lucky, this bout will be a continuation of their first bout which set a blistering pace from the opening bell and was fought all over the cage keeping the crowd on its feet for the entire match.   Make no mistake -- this bout will be a barnburner and will live up to the hype, that’s why ROC was so adamant about doing a rematch so soon.  Iaquinta and Miglioli caught lightning in a bottle in June and they are ready to catch some more at ROC XXXVII.

This is a great time to be a fight fan, and Ring of Combat is going to deliver some of the best fights of a star-studded, event-laden weekend.  You won’t find a more thrilling card then this one. Be sure to catch all of the action LIVE on September 9 as Ring of Combat presents ROC XXXVII exclusively on pay-per-view at GFL.tv.

International Fight Showdown (IFS) Showcases its Innovative Brand of Combat Sports

Poster coming soon!

Debuting on Sunday, September 18 on the GFL Combat Sports Network is an innovative combat sports promotion committed to providing the best of the combat styles all in one hybrid event.  The International Fight Showdown (IFS) presents IFS 9 Clash of Kings LIVE at the Industry Hills Expo Center in Industry, California.  The combat sports are always evolving and IFS is at the forefront of this growing transformation.  They are bringing a new twist to a tried and true platform that is a career-maker and career-definer for many athletes – the tournament.

The IFS will have two separate 16-man tournaments, one with MMA rules and one with Muay Thai rules.  A combined 32 fighters will be fighting for an opportunity that only two will achieve; IFS Tournament MMA Champion and IFS Tournament Muay Thai Champion.  This is an astounding number of fighters that will be competing for a championship under the IFS banner, and is sure to turn an up and comer martial artist into a full-blown superstar for the winners.

Coming off of a highly successful IFS Elimination Tournament in 2010 that played to several packed houses, where fights took place in both a ring and a cage (giving the fans the best of both worlds), the IFS has decided to up the ante this year by promising bigger and better fights.  In 2010 all six events were held at the world famous Knott’s Berry Farm in California.   The Elimination Tournament was so successful with each event growing and getting bigger than the previous show that hundreds of fans were turned away for the finale.  This year, the IFS expanded in many different positive ways one of which is promoting shows at larger venues to accommodate all of the fans for the 2011 tournament.  The IFS picked up so much steam in such a quick time because the tournament-style format allowed fans to root on and follow their favorite fighter as they advanced through the ranks deeper and deeper into the tournament.  The same way the NCAA March Madness always captures the attention of basketball fans every year, the IFS Elimination Tournament did and does the same thing with combat sports fans.

The IFS has been absolute in its determination to sign the best up and coming fighters in both MMA and Muay Thai and have them battle it out in the IFS cage and ring.  The IFS is bold in its plan and believes it can excel on the international stage just as other combat sports organizations have done.  So far, the IFS has had a great beginning with its winning concept, exciting fights, high-end production values, branding and merchandising efforts, expert analysis and commentary and outreach to the combat sports community.  All of these attributes set the IFS apart from the majority of other organizations competing in the market place that don’t quite have the business model the IFS does.

The International Fight Showdown is betting their hybrid style of combat sports and martial arts is the future fighting style for the 21st century.  By incorporating the popular styles of the past and present (boxing, full contact karate, kickboxing, Muay Thai and mixed martial arts), the IFS has something for all fans of the combat sports.  Tune in to see what all the talk is about on September 18 as IFS 9 Clash of Kings premiers live on the GFL Combat Sports Network, exclusively on GFL.tv.

Evolution Fighting Championships 7 - Summer Bash Event Review

Poster coming soon!

New Jersey’s rising amateur MMA promotion, Evolution Fighting Championships, presented another terrific card with Evolution Fighting Championships 7 – Summer Bash at the Rahway Rec Center in Rahway, New Jersey. The card had 12 total fights with 3 TITLES on the line.

In the main event, Caleb Solano (4-1) won the 140 lb Evolution Fighting Championships Title by defeating former champion, Ben Syers (2-3) via split decision after three rounds.  The fight was a hotly contested bout and could have gone either way, but it was Solano who had his hand raised at the end and his cardio was a big reason why.  Solano and Syers both fought tooth and nail, back and forth, but Solano initiated the action a bit more, including a few submission attempts and that was what gave him the nod and the championship title.

In the co-main event, Dwayne Holman Jr. (4-2) defeated late replacement Taylor Costantino (1-1) to win the vacant 147 lb Evolution Fighting Championship Title by unanimous decision.  Holman Jr. controlled the fight on the ground and in the standup and deserved the decision, but Costantino was gritty and determined throughout and deserves credit for signing to fight Holman on such short notice.  This was a high-paced fight throughout the three rounds.

It was a great night for the Solano brothers as in the final title fight on the card, Ariel Solano (2-1) defeated Mike Colon (3-2) by unanimous decision to win the vacant 126 lb championship.  Solano stuck to a smart game plan and was able to outbox Colon on the feet and control him on the ground enough to beat the more veteran fighter.  Now the Solano brothers are champions in both the 140 lb and 126 lb divisions and will look to continue their winning ways inside of the cage.

With one quarter of the fights being for a championship on a 12-bout card, this event was a high stakes affair.   Be sure to catch all of the action from this exciting event as Evolution Fighting Championships presents Evolution Fighting Championships 7 – Summer Bash exclusively on video on demand at GFL.tv.

Hard Knock Fighting Championship - School of Hard Knocks 14 Event Preview

Poster coming soon!

Western Canada’s top MMA promotion is back as Hard Knocks Fighting Championship brings School of Hard Knocks 14, to the Century Casino in Calgary, Alberta, Canada September 23.  The action packed 15-bout card is a combo event with both professional and amateur MMA fighters stepping in to the cage to do battle.

In the main event, Keto Allen (6-2) fights Andrew Buckland (13-8-1) in a welterweight championship bout in a battle of British Columbia natives.  Allen is coming off of an impressive first round submission win in July and looks to add to his momentum with the bout against Buckland.  Buckland is on a two fight submission win streak of his own.  Buckland has fought all over Canada and his record reads like a “who’s who” of some of the top MMA fighters from the Great White North.   With the HKFC Welterweight Championship on the line, expect these two gladiators to leave it all in the cage.  Both guys have wins via TKO and submission and are well-rounded athletes, but it might come down to experience as Buckland has faced much tougher opponents throughout his career.  This is a great matchup and what is sure to be a barnburner of a fight.

In the co-main event, Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet (0-1) battles Heather Martin (2-1, amateur record) who is making her professional debut.  Tweet is coming off of a tough debut fight with Ronda Rousey who caused quite a buzz with her last fight in Strikeforce.  For Tweet, the bout with Martin is another opportunity to showcase her overall MMA skillset which begins with her base, kickboxing.  Tweet was also able to show some great scrambling in her previous fight so she is quite proficient in her standup and ground.  Martin is no stranger to throwing punches and will look to mix it up with Tweet on the feet.  Expect Martin to stand in the middle of the cage and throw punches in bunches.  This bout could be Fight of the Night and should be action packed from the opening bell.

Along with 5 pro bouts, HKFC is also a proving ground for amateur fighters ready to earn their stripes. The 10-bout amateur series will separate the contenders from the pretenders and build to the future for HKFC and Canadian MMA.

Don’t miss this electrifying event featuring Western Canada’s finest MMA athletes competing in front of a packed house at the Century Casino in Calgary.   Hard Knocks Fighting Championship always produces great fights and this event will be no different.  Watch all of the fights LIVE on September 23 as Hard Knock Fighting Championship presents School of Hard Knocks 14 on pay-per-view only at GFL.tv!

Ring of Honor - Death Before Dishonor IX Event Preview

Poster coming soon!

Ring of Honor is back on September 17 with Death Before Dishonor IX.  ROH puts an exclamation point on the end of the summer with a host of great matches with a lot at stake.  ROH World Champion Davey Richards will be in Japan competing and raising awareness on the international level for ROH which will create a great opportunity for the spotlight to shine on other ROH talent at DBD IX.

In the main event, ROH will present Ladder War III featuring Jay and Mark Briscoe against the All Night Express.  A contract for a tag team title match at Glory By Honor X will be hanging above the ring.  In a feud that has continued to escalate for months with no end in sight, something as grueling as Ladder War III was needed to end this blood vendetta.  For both teams the future tag team title match is only the icing on the cake as these two teams have broken every rule in the book in their feud.  This grudge match will not be for the faint of heart.  It is the main event of the pay-per-view and the promoters have put this match on last for a reason.  Expect the unexpected because these two tag teams always deliver.

In the co-main event, in a Ringmaster Challenge – 2 out of 3 Falls Match former ROH World Champion Eddie Edwards faces former ROH World Champion Roderick Strong with Truth Martini in his corner.  The rules are set up where the first fall can only be by pinfall.  The second fall is submission only, and if necessary the third fall is a 15-minute Iron Man match.  For Edwards to get back into the title picture he needs to have an impressive victory over Strong.  This is also an important match for Strong as it gives him a high profile opponent and chance to get back in the win column after a couple tough losses in recent months.  Strong too has aspirations to reclaim the World Championship and the Ringmaster Challenge provides just that opportunity for him and his opponent.  Both wrestlers are sure to have their working boots on the Ringmaster Challenge is set up to show the full array of a grappler’s talent.  Expect chain wrestling, submissions, athletic moves and flawless technique when Edwards and Strong square off.

Ring of Honor (ROH) presents Death Before Dishonor IX, September 17 live at the Manhattan Center in New York, New York.  Coming off of the heels of Best in the World 2011, which saw a Match of the Year for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship, ROH set such a high mark that this PPV has to be spectacular.  With the current direction and important landmarks coming down the pike, Death Before Dishonor IX will set the tone to what lies ahead for the rest of 2011.  Don’t miss this PPV.  Order now, exclusively on GFL.tv.

MuayThai Premier League - Stars and Stripes Event Review

Poster coming soon!

The MuayThai Premier League debuted its first-ever event Stars and Stripes, and if this show is any indication on the rest of the 10-month long series the MPL is going to be a hit around the globe and the beginning of the most important series of Muay Thai events ever.  The first round of the MPL international tournament began at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California, and did not disappoint.  With great knockouts and pinpoint technique, the fighters all gave everything they had for the audience watching live in the arena and around the world on GFL.tv.  In totality, the historic MPL Tournament will showcase athletes that have combined to win more than 220 Championship belts in their stellar careers’.

Stars and Stripes was stacked from top to bottom with 12 total bouts including tourney fights in five different weight classes, (Super Lightweight (woman) 140 lb/63.5 kg, Welterweight (men) 147 lb/66.7 kg, Middleweight (men) 160 lb/72.5 kg, Super Light Heavyweight (men) 182 lb/82.5 kg, Heavyweight 210 lb/95 kg)  and the first bout was as exciting as the final bout of the night which saw the Muay Thai legend Buakaw Por. Pramuk compete in America in front of a near capacity crowd.

In the main event, Buakaw Por. Pramuk (198-21-12, Thailand) defeated Warren Stevelmans (54-15-4, South Africa) by TKO in Round 4 to win the WMC World Junior Middleweight Title (154 lb).  This bout only added to Por. Pramuk’s legacy in the sport that he has dominated for so long.  Both Por. Pramuk and Stevelmans came out guns blazing and treated the fans to a world-class Muay Thai fight that exhibited the true art and science of the “eight limbs”.  Por. Pramuk landed cleaner strikes throughout the contest as his accuracy was like a sniper and it was this precision that ultimately wore down a very game Stevelmans in the fourth round giving the Thailand native another remarkable win in his peerless career.  Por. Pramuk made the motherland proud on this night and showed that not only the birthplace but also the future of Muay Thai is in good hands with the Thai people.  To his credit, Stevelmans was a game fighter and stayed in the pocked exchanging bone-rattling strikes with the great Por. Pramuk up until the end, including taking several punches, kicks, elbows and knees that would have stopped lesser opponents earlier in the bout, but in the end it was not to be as the night belonged to Por. Pramuk who made his case for one of the all-time greats of the sport.  All in all a great main event to an overwhelmingly successful fight card.

In tournament action, Nathan Corbett (53-2, Australia) defeated Tomas Hron (54-15-2, Czech Republic) by TKO in Round 1 to advance in the heavyweight division.  “Carnage” Corbett knocked Hron down three times in the round, the second time by a vicious elbow that found its mark on Hron’s skull blowing past his arms up defense.  From there Corbett landed another series of strikes that again dropped the Czech and the referee had seen enough.

MPL has set out to do the impossible and has all of the pieces in place to pull it off.  If you love the striking arts, then the MuayThai Premier League is must-see TV, beginning with the inaugural show, Stars and Stripes.  Watch as the brave warriors display the science of the eight limbs and use punches, kicks, knees and elbows as they take the first step in becoming the MuayThai Premier League Champion of Champions.  The only way to follow these great international fighters as they progress through this grueling multi-event season on their way to winning the MPL Championships is to order this event through the GFL Combat Sports Network exclusively at GFL.tv.
