Canadian Extreme Cage Rage - CECR 7 “The Beatdown” made its worldwide debut on GFL.tv with a great amateur card from Moncton Lions Club in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
In the main event, Matt Mazerolle defeated Jon Kelly by decision in a hard fought, gritty performace by both gladiators. Mazerolle got the nod even though the fight ended with Kelly in a dominant position with Mazerolle pinned on the ground. Mazerolle did enough in the first two rounds by mixing up his attacks that even though Kelly ended the fight with more momentum, it was too late for a comeback on the judges’ scorecards.
In other action, Eric Nevitt defeated Gary Brown by armbar submission in round two. Nevitt showcases flawless grappling and transitions as the submission was set up beautifully. Brown did a heck of a job in his own right in round one, but Nevitt was able to use body positioning and scrambles to defend Brown’s attacks and ultimately led to the fight ending tapout.
3 more fights ended in either KO or submission on “The Beatdown”. CECR is branching out of New Brunswick, Canada and looks to be a solid proving ground for MMA in Eastern Canada where the fighters are separated from the other Canadian hotbeds of Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver and as such have their own unique fighting circuit. Look for CECR to continue to present hard hitting MMA action on GFL.tv.
