Lou Neglia's “Combat at the Capitale 27” Preview

Poster coming soon!

World Champion Lou Neglia and Ray Longo present World Championship Kickboxing with “Combat at the Capitale 27” on June 1 live at the famous Capitale in New York City, New York.  The 6-bout Muay Thai card is anchored by several title fights that are sure to make new stars in the sport and cement legacies.

In the main event, for the Muay Thai 140 lb World Championship, Champion Julio Arce of Team Tiger Schulmann defends against #1 Contender Brandon Mickens.  Arce will have the hometown fans on his side and anyone who has ever been to an event that has featured a Tiger Schulmann fighters knows that there is not a more boisterous and enthusiastic crowd than a Tiger Schulmann crowd.  Look for the Virginian Mickens to start fast and try to add up points early on to try and take the crowd out of the match.  For Arce, this is his first title defense after winning the title earlier this year and a great opportunity to gain some valuable experience and build his legacy.

In the co-main event, the Muay Thai 145 lb World Championship is up for grabs as Nico Tsigaras from Lions Fight Martial Arts battles Felipe Carlos from East West MMA for the vacant belt.  Tsigaras is a fan favorite for his slick punching and ability to hit and not be hit.  He will look to counter Carlos and make him pay for his mistakes.  Carlos is a grinder and willing to take some punishment to give more back.  If Carlos can land punches even if he is countered by Tsigaras the fight could swing in his favor.  Expect this bout to be a grueling fight that could last all five rounds to decide the champion.

If you love nonstop, full-throttle striking, then “Combat at the Capitale 27” is must-see TV.  This event goes hand in hand with Neglia’s other combat sports venture, Ring of Combat, and give combat fans in the tri-state area another avenue to watch some of the best East Coast martial artists compete.  Watch as the brave warriors display the science of the eight limbs and use punches, kicks, knees and elbows and do it the Big Apple on June 1.  Order this event exclusively at GFL.tv.

June 2 IZW Preview on GFL.tv

Poster coming soon!

Last week, Jermaine Johnson and Double D wrestled to a no contest to determine the #1 Contender to Aaron Neil’s IZW Heavyweight Championship.  What Johnson and D got instead was a butt kicking courtesy of the “Bronze Bull” and Impact Inc. until Johnny Z charged to the ring to make the save.  The question still remains, who will challenge the “unstoppaBULL” Champion?  Neil has been riding a wave of good luck ever since he won the title earlier this year.  Will he try and throw another obstacle in the road for Johnson and Double D?  Odds are good he will, but with the addition of Johnny Z now back on the IZW roster, the balance of power has shifted and all bets are off.

Tune in to find out what happens next with Big Business, Jordan Jacobs, the ladies of IZW, the Old School Suckas, Cody Jones, Bryan Cruize and much, much more this Saturday night.

Watch all the feuds and all the rivalries inside and outside of the squared circle.  Tune in to the Southwest’s premiere wrestling federation and find out what will happen next.  Watch professional wrestling like it’s supposed to be, rough and tumble and always in HD at GFL.tv as IZW continues to change the wrestling world!

The One-and-Only CHIKARA is Back with “CHIKARASAURUS REX: How to Hatch a Dinosaur” on JUNE 2 on GFL.tv

Poster coming soon!

Bored with wrestling? CHIKARA is the cure.

CHIKARA is back with its second iPPV as CHIKARASAURUS REX: HOW TO HATCH A DINOSAUR streams live on GFL.tv on June 2 from The Trocadero in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The 7-bout card features match-ups as diverse as CHIKARA itself and is sure to give fans of pro wrestling something exclusive and original.

For over a decade, CHIKARA has steadily grown its product into the most unique pro wrestling promotion in the world.  When everybody else is trying to be the WWE or the anti-WWE, CHIKARA has forged its own path and become something completely new. Wrestling.  Reinvented.

Loyal followers, (dubbed the CHIKARMY) understand CHIKARA is not just a professional wrestling, but rather an active, organic, contemporary play of fiction.  CHIKARA is live art.  To create this entertainment spectacle, every member of the CHIKARA ensemble cast plays a unique part in presenting a world that only exists inside the CHIKARA platform.  First and foremost, it starts with the wrestlers inside of the ring as CHIKARA has created and developed the freshest characters and storylines in the pro wrestling genre.

As viewers of CHIKARASAURUS REX: HOW TO HATCH A DINOSAUR will see on June 2, CHIKARA has plenty of oddball, offbeat performers.  There’s the Colony (Fire Ant, Soldier Ant and Green Ant) who will team with CHIKARA Grand Champion Eddie Kingston and Jigsaw to battle GEKIDO made up of The Swarm (assailANT, combatANT, deviANT), 17 and The Shard.  Where else are you going to get a list of wrestlers with such colorful and quirky names?  And it doesn’t stop there.  The Colony and The Swarm are just what you would expect.  Wrestlers dressed in ant attire with accompanying descriptive titles attached such as the Energetic Insectoid Grappler or the Militant Mat Mite.  The CHIKARA troupe also sports such individuals as UltraMantis Black, Hallowicked, Frightmare, Ophidian and Icarus.

The storylines are just as fantastic as several factions fight for supremacy inside of the ring.  The universal showdown of good versus evil is always at stake, sometime with intergalactic or otherworldly consequences.  And CHIKARA has comedy…intentional comedy, which isn’t usually the case in wrestling.  The characters, storylines and method of delivery are what make CHIKARA stand out in a field of copycats and underachievers.

CHIKARA is also light years ahead of not only fellow pro wrestling organizations but Fortune 500 companies when it comes to the use of alternative mediums to market its product to the masses.  For fans new to CHIKARA a great place to start is chikarapro.com.  There you will find an exorbitant amount of intel about all things CHIKARA.  Along with going the route of the iPPV (on GFL.tv), CHIKARA thrives in other versatile avenues including; comics, podcasts, a fanclub, Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, iTunes, MySpace, phone applications and even video games.  Virtually every new media gadget is utilized by CHIKARA which also makes them the most technological savvy wrestling federation on the planet.

The comics section on the website is one of the most creative forms of media CHIKARA uses.  A new state-of-the-art page is published once a week and fans can catch up on some of the back stories that play out live in the middle of the ring. Currently, there are two comics up for fans to read; Secret Origin of Frightmare featuring Delirious, UltraMantis Black, Hallowicked and Frightmare and Untold Tale of the Osirian Portal featuring Amasis “The Funky” Pharaoh and Ophidian.

CHIKARA has managed to set itself apart as a one-of-a-kind entertainment property where most seem to follow the leader.  If you’re a pro wrestling fan or even just a fan of the fiction genre tune in to CHIKARA on June 2 as it presents CHIKARASAURUS REX: HOW TO HATCH A DINOSAUR only on GFL.tv.

Future Stars of Wrestling (FSW) - "Xtreme Measures 2" Review

Poster coming soon!

Future Stars of Wrestling (FSW) – Arizona, presented its version of WrestleMania as “Xtreme Measures 2” threw down the gauntlet for professional wrestling in the Southwest and West Coast circuit.  Emanating from FSW’s Arizona home base at the Phoenix Celebrity Theatre, the crowd was rocking as multiple titles were at stake, including the FSW-AZ Championship and FSW-Las Vegas Championship!

In the main event, Tyson Tyler defeated former WWE Superstar “Bad Ass” Billy Gunn to retain his FSW-AZ Heavyweight Championship after a grueling, hard hitting, and intense match that even saw the wrestlers fight amongst the crowd delivering punishing strikes to one another, even using the unforgiving bar surface at one point to dish out even more damage.  It was an odd scene for FSW fans as for the first time, in a very long time, Tyler was not the bigger man in the ring.  Gunn looked to have the title in hand after he had Tyler on the ropes landing all of his famous moves including a series of right hands and a big splash into the turnbuckle.  Tyler crumbled like a load of bricks and it was then that Tyler’s ally Johnny “The Bull” Stamboli ambushed Gunn in the middle of the ring.  But Gunn was ready and Stamboli got a Famasser for his troubles and a “Suck It” reminiscent of Gunn’s days with D-Generation X.  Gunn then went after the Blonde Bombshell who climbed up to the ring apron, but by this time, Tyler had recuperated and hit Gunn with a low blow, befalling Gunn as Tyler rolled Gunn up for the pinfall.  The champ needed help from his crew to retain his title, but give the devil his due, he did just that.

In the co-main event, FSW-Las Vegas Champion Alkatrazz defeated challenger Johnny “The Bull” Stamboli in a power versus power matchup.  Alkatrazz and Stamboli are two of the toughest, meanest and strongest wrestlers on the Independent scene and when they collided inside the FSW ring the impact made the earth shake.  Every move these grapplers executed had bad intentions and both men absorbed tons of punishment that speaks to their toughness in the squared circle.  But it wasn’t all power moves as Alkatrazz showed he is as nimble as a cruiserweight as he executed a perfect top rope tornado DDT after walking along the top rope a la The Undertaker’s Old School move to get in position to deliver the aerial assault.  But even that could not put down “The Bull”.  Stamboli recovered enough to land a spinebuster on Alkatrazz, but the Champ kicked out and came back for more; namely, the Lockdown, which he finished Stamboli off with to retain his title.

In other action, former WWE Superstar X-Pac defeated Brandon Gaston and Sergio Vega in a Triple Threat Match after X-Pac hit the X-Factor off the top rope on Vega and got the 1-2-3.
Watch the best pro wrestling in the Southwest, order “Xtreme Measures 2” now exclusively on video on demand and only at GFL.tv.

IZW May 26 Broadcast

Poster coming soon!

IZW delivered another night of exciting pro wrestling for free on GFL.tv as the Southwest promotion’s blue chip, all-star roster was locked and loaded and gave the fans in the Impact Arena and watching worldwide via the Internet, a great two hours of action in the squared circle.

In the main event, to determine the #1 Contender for the IZW Heavyweight Championship and a future showdown with Champion “The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil, Jermaine Johnson and Double D wrestled to a No Contest after Impact Inc. interfered in the match.  Before the melee, it was a back and forth battle between Double D’s speed and high flying maneuvers versus Johnson’s technical superiority.  At one point, Johnson even kicked out of D’s finisher the Defacer, and almost won after rolling up Double D after another high risk aerial assault by D.  But Double D still had more for Johnson as he executed a perfect hurricanrana moments later.  Johnson then stymied a springboard attempt by Double D and turned it into a power bomb but was too banged up to make the cover.  As both men writhed in pain and slowly recovered, Neil entered the ring and delivered a double clothesline almost taking the heads off of Johnson and Double D.  The referee called for the bell and declared the bout a no contest.  But Neil was not finished as he punched and kicked both men, issuing out more punishment.  As if that wasn’t enough, Damon Windsor, Kevin Morgan and Jordan Jacobs all came out to deliver even more beatings to Johnson and D.  The odds were stacked in Neil’s favor until Johnny Z came out to make the save, and after some fancy team work, Johnson, Double D and Johnny Z rid the ring of Neil and his posse.  But the question remains, who is the #1 Contender?

In other action, the newly formed tag team Big Business (Damon Windsor and Kevin Morgan) where too much for the team of Bryan Cruize and Cody Jones as they defeated the crowd favorites after a devastating finishing move.  Cruize and Jones were the quicker tag team and had their opponents on their heels a few times during the bout, but Big Business was able to offset Cruize and Jones’ speed for good when Jones missed a frog splash and Windsor and Morgan hoisted Jones up into the rafters and slammed him down in a double choke slam.  The move would have crushed an elephant as the pinfall by Windsor was academic at that point.

Experience professional wrestling like it’s supposed to be, rough and tumble and always in HD!  Watch all of the action now on video on demand for free at GFL.tv as IZW continues to change the wrestling world!

"Dead Serious Four" Review

Poster coming soon!

Hard hitting MMA action returned to the Rahway Rec Center in Rahway, New Jersey as Dead Serious MMA presented “Dead Serious Four” on the GFL Combat Sports Network.  The bout was highlighted by two championship bouts in the light heavyweight and featherweight divisions that featured some blue chip talent in both bouts.

In the main event, after a three round war, Joe Pinto (3-0) from AMA defeated Steven Sooy (3-1) by unanimous decision to become the new Dead Serious Light Heavyweight Champion.  Pinto was able to dictate most of where the fight was fought and he used his wrestling to stifle Sooy’s standup attack which found its mark on several occasions.  But Pinto was relentless in wrestling and shooting in for takedowns which he landed a fair amount of the time and controlled the ground through strong grappling and positioning, leaving Sooy on his back from much of the bout.  Pinto even worked for a few submission attempts, but Sooy had strong defense and kept fighting back until the final bell trying to land that one punch that would have turned the tide.  But to Pinto’s credit, he never gave Sooy the chance.

In a rematch from a fight at “Dead Serious Three”, Shane Burgos (5-0-0-1) left no doubt about the outcome as he defeated RJ Starace (3-5-0-1) via TKO in round two to win the Dead Serious Featherweight Championship.  Burgos attacked from the beginning landing several strikes and at the end of round one Burgos found a home for several devastating knees to Starace’s midsection.  Burgos could smell blood at the beginning of round two as he continued his attack landing almost everything he threw at Starace who was still hurting from the knees in round one.  Burgos finished the fight with a vicious combo to the body where three punches found their mark.  Starace’s body had finally had enough as he winced in pain and crumbled to the ground.  It was a very impressive victory for the still undefeated and newly crowned champion, Burgos.

East Coast MMA had another strong showing with “Dead Serious Four”!  Be sure to catch all of the action, including title fights in the 205 lb and 145 lb divisions exclusively at GFL.tv.

NAAFS - "Fight Night in the Flats VIII" Preview

Poster coming soon!

The North American Allied Fight Series (NAAFS) returns on June 2 on GFL.tv with “Fight Night in the Flats VIII” featuring two title fights at the Jacobs Pavilion in Nautica in Cleveland, Ohio.  The Ohio-based NAAFS has been a proving ground for tons of MMA fighters who have made their way to the UFC and Strikeforce.  NAAFS continues to promote the Midwest’s premier up and coming fighters and “Fight Night in the Flats VIII” will only add to the storied history of NAAFS.

In the main event, Kyle Baker (11-3) fights Chris Lozano (9-3) for Baker’s NAAFS Pro Series Welterweight Championship.  For Baker, this is his first title defense and it comes against his toughest opponent to date as Lozano is a Bellator veteran and also a former NAAFS Champion.  Baker holds a win over UFC vet Drew Fickett and a win over Lozano would add to his credentials even more and make people around the country take notice of the budding star.  Lozano is looking to regroup back in his old stomping grounds and a victory over Baker would get him moving in the right direction and would also see him reclaim NAAFS gold.  Lozano packs a heavy punch and will be looking to land it with bad intentions so this main event should be action packed from the get go.

In the co-main event, Frank Caraballo (9-4) defends his NAAFS Pro Series Featherweight Championship against Antonio Castillo Jr. (4-3).  Caraballo is on a 4-fight win streak including the last two with Bellator and looks to keep his momentum going as he defends his belt against a gritty challenger in Castillo Jr.  Caraballo is a fan favorite because of his aggressive fighting style which usually ends with him winning by knockout or submission.  Fans will be in for a treat as the challenger Castillo Jr. loves to grind out his opponents and take their will to fight away, so this bout will be a contrast in styles which means anything is possible.  This bout will be a barnburner as the 145 lb weight division is one of the most exciting in all of MMA and if Castillo Jr. can pull of the upset not only will he be the new champion, but he will turn a lot of heads in the MMA industry.  But Caraballo will do his best to shut down Castillo Jr. right from the beginning.

Don’t miss “Fight Night in the Flats VIII” presented by NAAFS on June 2.  Watch all the action and witness the champions of tomorrow compete today, live on the GFL Combat Sports Network exclusively on iPPV.

Hard Knocks Fighting Championship - "School of Hard Knocks 23 Calgary" Review

Poster coming soon!

Western Canada’s top MMA promotion returned as Hard Knocks Fighting Championship presented “School of Hard Knocks 23 Calgary” at the Subway Soccer Center.  The action packed 12-bout pro/am card with 9 stoppages featured many of the top up and coming superstars of the Great White North including a great main event.  HKFC is the top proving ground for rising prospects in Western Canada and its latest installment promises to deliver great fights once again.

In the main event, Jarod Milko (5-1) from Progressive Fighting Academy out of Lethbridge, Alberta defeated Paapa Inkumsah (4-5) of Gracie Barra in Calgary, Alberta by rear naked choke in round two in a welterweight pro fight.  Milko was the dominant fighter in the early exchanges and when the fight went to the mat he showed off strong grappling in shutting down Inkumsah and stifling his attacks.  In round two, both fighters fought for positioning in the clinch until Milko was able to get it to the mat with a  trip takedown.  Milko ended up in mount and Inkumsah was quick to turn over where Milko rode his back for several minutes looking to sink in a choke.  Inkumsah defended well but Milko was relentless and it paid off as he finally got the tapout.

In the co-main event, Dia Grant (4-6) from Dynamic MMA in Calgary, Alberta defeated Julius Huhs (2-1) from AJJA Canada in Kamloops, BC by rear naked choke in round two in a lightweight pro fight.  Grant was coming off a first round submission win and this makes it two submission wins in a row, this time giving an undefeated fighter his first pro loss.  Early on in the bout Grant’s striking found a home as Huhs’ face was bloodied up, but if anything it only made Huhs fight harder, but Grant was there to meet him as he beat Huhs to the punch over and over again.   After some clinch work in the second, the fighters fell to the mat with Grant on top and Huhs on the canvas.  Grant tried to land punches but Huhs stopped the attack by turning, but that was the opening Grant was looking for as he immediately pounced on Huhs and sunk in a choke for the win.

Don’t miss this electrifying event featuring Western Canada’s finest MMA athletes as Hark Knocks Fighting Championship presents “School of Hard Knocks 23 Calgary” with three-fourths of the fights ending in either knockout or submission.  Hard Knocks Fighting Championship always produces great fights and this event was no different.  Order this video now exclusively through GFL.tv.

In the main event, Rami Ibrahim takes on Ognjen Topic for the WKA USA Full Rules Muay Thai Pro Championship.  This is a battle of two East Coast standouts and the clash of styles will make this bout highly entertaining for the fans.  Ibrahim has heavy hands and always brings the fight to his opponents.  His boxing skills are his best weapons and he will look to walk Topic down in the ring and land haymakers.  Topic comes from a traditional Muay Thai background and is more varied in his attacks using all 8 points of attack to his advantage.  Expect bone rattling striking in this match as Ibrahim and Topic go for gold in the most punishing striking sport around.

In the co-main event, with the Pro MMA Eastern Regional Championship on the line Neil Johnson (6-4) fights Omar Vega (3-1).  Johnson is coming off a first round submission victory and all 6 of his victories have come via submission or knockout.  Always dangerous, Johnson will be looking at making it 7 for 7 in stoppages.  Vega comes into the bout riding a 3-fight win streak, all by stoppage and a victory here could give the Puerto Rican native his first championship.

"Cage Wars 15" Preview

 Poster coming soon!

Xtreme Fight Events returns on June 1 with “Cage Wars 15”, a 14-bout card with multiple title fights, emanating from the Harrah's Casino in Chester Pennsylvania.  “Cage Wars” has quickly solidified itself in Pennsylvania as a top-tier MMA event, and the fighters on June 1 will be ready to throw down in the cage.

In the main event, Dan Cion (3-1) battles Casey Milliken (3-3) for the vacant Cage Wars Lightweight Title.  Cion is a CFFC vet and battle-tested as he has fought a top caliber of East Coast MMAers.  Traveling from New York, Cion is looking to grind Milliken down and break his will during the fight.  Milliken is also a CFFC vet and has traveled as far as Arizona to ply his trade.  Milliken is coming off a spectacular win at “Cage Wars 13” and looks to build on that success as he will look to try and submit Cion if it goes to the mat.

In the co-main event, Ryan Cafaro (3-3) defends his Cage Wars title as he takes on Matthew Ibbotson (3-4).  Cafaro is coming off a hard earned decision victory that where he won the title back in March.  Cafaro likes to go to the ground and exhibits a high risk-high reward fighting style that is always a crowd pleaser.  For the challenger Ibbotson, he is riding a 2-fight win streak and looks to make the most of his opportunity by winning his first title.  Ibbotson also is strong on the ground so this could be a matchup of grapplers or the ground fighting could be nullified and it could be a slugfest.

The third title fight of the evening will be for the Flyweight Championship as former challenger Andrew Aguilar (4-2) battles Brian Gil (3-1) for the vacant 125 lb title.  Aguilar likes to break his opponents will inside the cage and win by decision while Gil has wins by KO and submission.  This clash of styles always makes for interesting fights and the fact that this is for a Flyweight Championship means this should be fight of the night as that division has the wildest fights.

"Ultimate Reno Combat 33" Review

Poster coming soon!

Northern Nevada’s premier cage fighting event returned with “Ultimate Reno Combat 33” with 3 titles on the line at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada.  It was another example of why URC was named the #1 Amateur Event in the Nation.

In the main event, Brandon Costa (5-1) defeated Brad Robasciotti (3-2) via TKO in round one to regain his URC Light Heavyweight Title.  The bout was an immediate rematch as Robasciotti was victorious in the last bout defeating Costa via TKO in round 4 and winning the title from him. Costa left little doubt this time as he got to extract a bit of revenge on the only man to ever beat him.  Both men wrestled in the clinch for most of the round, each man looking for an opening for a takedown.  But then Costa landed a short punch out of nowhere dropping Robasciotti to the mat.  Costa immediately followed his opponent down to the mat and landed a series of punches until the ref called a halt to the match giving Costa a victory and a title.  It was a great showing by the two-time champion.

The co-main event, Anthony Hernandez (5-0) defeated Randall Wallace (2-1) via rear naked choke in round 2 to become the new URC Middleweight Champion.  It was a back and forth fight until Hernandez unloaded with punches while Wallace was against the cage.  This led to the fight going to the mat where Hernandez showed off some slick grappling as he took Wallace’s back and sunk in the fight ending choke.

In the third title match of the evening, on Daymond Bland (4-1) defeated Spencer Roberts (4-2) via rear naked choke to become the new URC Flyweight Title.  Bland has stopped all 4 of his opponents for victories demonstrating a deadly submission game in the process.

In the main event, CFC Welterweight Champion Jesse Juarez (18-8) defended his title as he defeated the home country hero, Robert Whitaker (9-2) by unanimous decision after a grueling five round war.  Juarez used a great combination of wrestling and striking to control his opponent during the fight earning a solid win and growing his legacy on the Australian continent.  Whitaker was a formidable opponent as he was able to score big with punches during the bout both in standup and on the ground.  The younger Whitaker pushed the pace at times, but the veteran Juarez was able to nullify a lot of the offense by Whitaker via his strong wrestling which he used to control the bout and always went back to when he was in a spot that was dicey.

In the co-main event, Soa “The Hulk” Palelei (13-2) defeated Bob Sapp (11-11-1) via TKO in round one.  Sapp went for a half-hearted takedown which Palelei easily defended and as both men hit the mat Palelei landed a series of punches while Sapp just covered up. The bout was over in seconds.

In the main event, it is a rematch from a fight at “Dead Serious Three” as undefeated Shane Burgos (4-0-0-1) battles RJ Starace (3-4-0-1) in a featherweight showdown. Their first meeting ended in a no contest after Starace was unable to continue after an accidental foul in round one. It was a disappointing ending to what otherwise started out as a barnburner.  The foul occurred when Burgos and Starace where doing some clinch work and working for position and Burgos landed a knee that was low on Starace.   Starace was in immediate pain and unable to re-start the fight.  In the past, Burgos has shown that he has the cardio conditioning to win a fight on decision, and he also has a deadly submission game to go along with strong stamina.  Starace has fought for the Dead Serious Featherweight Title previously, suffering a tough loss in round three.  He will look back to get on his winning ways and set the story straight in this rematch with Burgos.  The winner of this bout will be at the front of the line for a future 145 lb title shot with Dead Serious, so there is a lot riding on this defacto #1 Contender match.

In other action, Jimmy Starr (0-2) fights Guido Valdner (0-0) in a featherweight tussle.   Both fighters are looking for their first wins in the sport and this bout will be a great litmus test for both athletes.  Starr has already fought twice so he will have the experience advantage, but Valdner is an unknown so it will be hard to game plan for his strengths so he has an advantage in the styles matchup as he will know a little bit more about what Starr’s strengths are while Starr will have to plan for everything against Valdner.  This bout should be a barnburner as one of these 145 lb fighters will get their first victory of their career.

East Coast MMA is ready to deliver again!  Be sure to catch all of the action, LIVE on May 26 as the Dead Serious MMA presents “Dead Serious Four” exclusively at GFL.tv.

"School of Hark Knocks 23 - Calgary" - Preview

Poster coming soon!

Western Canada’s top MMA promotion returns as Hard Knocks Fighting Championship presents “School of Hard Knocks 23 Calgary”, on May 25 at the Subway Soccer Center.  The action packed 12-bout pro/am card features many of the top up and coming superstars of the Great White North.  HKFC is the top proving ground for rising prospects in Western Canada and its latest installment promises to deliver great fights once again.

In the main event, Paapa Inkumsah (4-4) of Gracie Barra in Calgary, Alberta fights Jarod Milko (4-1) from Progressive Fighting Academy out of Lethbridge, Alberta in a welterweight pro fight.  Inkumsah has 3 victories by submission and has only gone to a decision twice, so his fights are usually action filled bouts where someone is getting submitted or knocked out as Inkumsah uses a high risk-high reward fighting style.  Milko has never gone to a decision and holds a title with another organization so his big fight experience will come in handy as he main events “HKFC 23” against Inkumsah.  Milko also has 3 wins via submission so this could turn into a grappling chess match, or they fighters could decide to handle their business on their feet, not wanting to risk being submitted by another proficient grappler.

In the co-main event, Dia Grant (3-6) from Dynamic MMA in Calgary, Alberta faces Julius Huhs (2-0) from AJJA Canada in Kamloops, BC in a lightweight pro fight.  Grant is coming off a first round submission win and looks to add to his momentum against the upstart Huhs.  Grant will bring a vast experience edge into the cage as well as a “fight anyone” mentality.  Grant will be ready for whatever the newcomer Huhs throws at him.  For the undefeated Huhs, this is a great test for him in his early pro career as he has never even fought in the second round with both of his victories coming in the first.  Grant will be Huhs’ toughest test to date and a good measuring stick for the 155 lb fighter.  If Huhs walks through Grant then he might be in line for a title shot with HKFC.

Don’t miss this electrifying event featuring Western Canada’s finest MMA athletes as Hark Knocks Fighting Championship presents “School of Hard Knocks 23 Calgary” on May 25 in front of a packed house at the Subway Soccer Center.   Hard Knocks Fighting Championship always produces great fights and this event will be no different.  Order this video now exclusively through GFL.tv.

Helster MMA Fight League "Unleashed" Review

Poster coming soon!

The newest promotion to burst onto the scene is Helster MMA Fight League which made its debut on GFL.tv with "Unleashed". The 15-bout amateur card featured 3 title fights and had 9 stoppages as Helster MMA Fight League proved they are here to stay.

In the main event, Jordan Stiner defeated Bill Borowski via kimura submission in round two for the 161 lb championship.  It was a great fight as both men picked their spots in round one, with Stiner landing some solid strikes but Borowski coming back and dishing out some punishment of his own.  But in the second when the fight hit the mat, Stiner worked his game plan to perfection as he isolated Borowski’s arm and applied the fight ending submission hold.

In the co-main event, PJ Palmer defeated Scott Krampetz via unanimous decision after three rounds on 30-27 scorecards across the board to win the 154 lb title.  Palmer won every facet of the fight landing heavier more effective strikes that took the steam out of Krampetz.  On the ground, Palmer was also more active landing, landing strikes that kept Krampetz on the defense.

In the third championship bout of the night, Jamie Allebach defeated Mike Pastor via arm triangle in round one to win the 168 lb title.  The fight hit the ground almost immediately and Allebach went to work as he got side control and secured Pastor’s own arm against his neck and began to crank away until the referee stepped in due to tapout.  It was an impressive showing for Allebach.

If you love nonstop, full-throttle action, then “Unleashed” is must-see TV.  This event kicks off the debuting Helster MMA Fight League on GFL.tv and it was a great coming out party for the organization.  Watch as the brave warriors give everything they have inside of the cage.  Order this event exclusively at GFL.tv

IZW "Coronation" Review

Poster coming soon!

IZW “Coronation” delivered once again as Impact Zone Wrestling proved they have no peer in Independent wrestling.  There was plenty of great wrestling, drama and the aftermath set IZW on a new path, a path led by Johnny Z!

In the main event, the tag team of Jermaine Johnson and the returning Johnny Z defeated Aaron “The Bronze Bull” Neil and Brandon Bishop in a hotly contested match.  This was a hard hitting fight as Johnny Z was just as violent as ever as he leveled both Bishop and Neil.  Johnson also seemed rejuvenated, as for the first time in months, he had even odds when he went to battle Impact Inc.  Even in defeat, Bishop and Neil showed why they form a powerful force in IZW as the team gave as good as they got, but with the return of the “Natural Born Leader” and the future of IZW riding in the balance, Johnson and Z would not be denied on this night.

Johnny Z proved his knee was a 100% at one point delivering a leg drop from the top rope onto a helpless Bishop and if not for the cheating ways of Neil, who broke up the pinfall that would have been the end of the match.  Next up was Johnson taking the hide off of Neil with blistering strikes as Neil was on dream street.  But the champion would not go away easy as he turned the tide on Johnson, stifling his attack and then tagged in his partner Bishop.  Bishop then went to work on Johnson landing a big elbow followed up by isolating Johnson’s left arm in an inverted armbar that came close to hyperextending the arm and getting the tapout.  The final series came when Johnny Z tossed Bishop out of the ring and then countered a Neil attack by delivering a DDT to the IZW Champ.  Johnny Z then landed a perfect Big Boot landing square in the face of Neil followed by an ES2 from Johnson incapacitating the Champion.  That was enough, as Johnny Z then followed that up with a pinfall getting the 1-2-3 as the Impact Arena exploded in cheers and completely changing the hierarchy and foundations of IZW!

In the match of the night, Double D defeated “Lights Out” Jordan Jacobs in a Ladder Match to win the 2012 Impact Player of the Year Tournament.  There were tons of ladders in play and they provided for some high risk moves from both D and Jacobs that took years off of their careers as both men were in severe pain when it was all over.  The ending was a lesson in grit and determination, exhibited by both men as Jacobs, standing high on a ladder missed a leg drop that would have spelled the end for Double D, but it was a dangerous move and one that cost him dearly as Double D moved out of the way and Jacobs damaged his leg in the landing.  Double D then took the tallest ladder in the building and set it up in the middle of the ring and made his ascent to the top.  But Jacobs followed on his own ladder and it was a race to the top to grab the Impact Player Trophy.  Double D showed amazing athleticism as Jacobs tried to push him off the ladder but instead Double D, still holding on to the ladder, bounced off the top rope and swung back to the middle of the ring where he unloaded body shots on Jacobs and landed a Defacer from the top of the ladders!  It was all over but the shouting as Double D climbed back up the ladder to claim the trophy and victory.

In other action, the Old School Suckas (Gary Tool and Randy Price) defended their IZW Tag Team Titles after a razor close match against Rage Logan and Damon Windsor.  Windsor had replaced the injured Damien Morte and proved to add a spark to the team as they pushed the OSS to the limit, but in the end the veteran team won out.  Earlier in the bout, Logan and Windsor isolated Tool’s injured right arm and worked it over something fierce.  They looked to be near finishing the match with Tool’s arm sandwiched between a steel chair, held down by Windsor, as Logan climbed to the top rope to deliver his famous corkscrew finisher.  But then at the last moment, Cody Jones ran down to the ring and knocked Windsor down to the floor, and crotched Logan on the top rope.  This allowed both Tool and Price time to recover and they landed their double neckbreaker on a still injured Logan just as the referee regained consciousness and got the pinfall, retaining their titles in a wild match.

Lion Fight Muay Thai VI "Schilling VS Marcus 2" Review

Poster coming soon!

Lion Fight Muay Thai VI: “Schilling vs Marcus 2” was an epic show.  The WBC full-rules Muay Thai event lived up to its billing, especially the main event which was a rematch of two of the top Muay Thai fighters in the world, Joe “Stitch ‘Em Up” Schilling from Los Angeles, California against the undefeated Simon Marcus of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  The proceedings took place in the fight capital of the world at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and when the night was over, combat fans watching worldwide got their monies worth.  Lion Fight Muay Thai was voted Muay Thai Promoter of Year in 2011 and after this event, it looks like they are in the lead to do it again in 2012.

In the much hyped main event, the leather was flying as Simon Marcus (27-0) defeated Joe Schilling (12-3) by majority decision to win the WBC Interim Light Heavyweight Championship and becoming the #1 Contender for the world title.  The first round was a barnburning, back and forth fight as both men looked to make a statement by trying to end the fight early.  Schilling almost did as he dropped Marcus with a straight left for a standing 8-count.  The scene was reminiscent of their first battle, but in reverse.  But Marcus rose to his feet and the battle continued at the same break-neck pace for the next 4 rounds.

Throughout the bout, Schilling landed several looping right hands, short left hooks and front kicks that caught the attention of Marcus.  Marcus mixed up his attacks going to the head with straight punches and landing leg strikes to Schilling’s thighs.  Schilling was able to nullify Marcus’ throws, but Marcus landed with knees throughout the bout and was always the one moving forward as the knees did a lot of damage and took the wind out of Schilling.

In the fifth and final round, Marcus used effective clinch work to scored effectively with series of knees while Schilling looked content to lock up in an over under clinch minimize damage and try and conserve energy.  But in the fifth it was clear the knees took their toll even when Schilling tried to land his famous elbows as he was a step behind Marcus at every turn.

In the co-main event and in another highly anticipated rematch, Thanit "Boom" Watthanaya (46-12) defeated Romie Adanza (16-4) by split decision in a super flyweight matchup after a strategic 5-round bout fought by both men. Thanit probably got the nod due to his relentless leg kicks that landed on Romie’s body throughout the bout even though Romie was very active himself and did damage.

Don’t miss this awesome card.  Rarely can you catch lighting twice in a bottle but Lion Fight Muay Thai did just that with “Schilling vs Marcus 2” as not only the main event but the whole card delivered a five and a half hour striking extravaganza.  Fight fans; order this event now on video on demand, only at GFL.tv.

"Ultimate Reno Combat 33" Preview

Poster coming soon!

Northern Nevada’s premier cage fighting event returns as “Ultimate Reno Combat 33” premiers live on May 18, a 14-bout card, with 3 titles on the line at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada.

In the main event, Brad Robasciotti (3-1) fights Brandon Costa (4-1) for the URC Light Heavyweight Title.  The fans demanded it and now they have it.  This is an immediate rematch as Robasciotti was victorious in the last bout defeating Costa via TKO in round 4 and winning the title from him.  With such a quick turnaround both fighters will not have much time to change their games up so expect this bout to be another wall to wall war.  The first fight was back and forth with Robasciotti ultimately getting his hand raised at the end, but many feel the fight was stopped too early, hence the rematch.  Both fighters will be looking to make a definitive statement in this bout, so don’t blink.

The co-main event, Randall Wallace (2-0) battles Anthony Hernandez (4-0) for the URC Middleweight Championship.  This is for the vacant 185 lb title and both fighters come into the bout undefeated.  Someone is walking away with gold, while the other is walking away with the first loss of his career.  For Wallace, he is a heavy puncher who has finished both of his fights in the first round.  He will look to connect with one of his bombs early and make it a quick night.  Hernandez is a fighter that can end things with his hands, but also has the stamina to go the distance and outwork his opponent for a decision.  Since it’s a 5 round fight, Hernandez could look to take Wallace into deep waters and into the later rounds and then from there try to stop him.

In the third title match of the evening, Spencer Roberts (4-1) takes on Daymond Bland (3-1) for the URC Flyweight Title.  Roberts comes into the fight as the champion making his first title defense.  He won the title back in October 2011 with a submission and has defeated 3 opponents by tapout.  He is a fast starter and always looking to finish the fight so this bout should be exciting.  Bland has stopped all 3 of his opponents for victories and along with a submission game, possesses strong knockout power.  When the 125 lb fighters are in the cage anything can happen as these are some of the most overall skilled fighters in the sport.  Look for fight of the night between Roberts and Bland.

Watch the champions of tomorrow compete today!  Don’t miss this loaded event with 14 high octane bouts as Northern Nevada’s “Ultimate Reno Combat 33” comes to you live on GFL.tv on May 18.

Rumble at the Roseland 63 Preview

Poster coming soon!

Full Contact Fighting Federation (FCFF) returns May 19 to Portland, Oregon as it presents “Rumble at the Roseland 63”.  The exciting card is loaded with the top fighters in the Pacific Northwest and will have 3 title fights!  FCFF has been on a rampage lately and the 63rd installment is sure to keep the streak going.

In the main event, for the FCFF Heavyweight Title, Damion Martindale (9-5) battles undefeated Nick Biron (5-0).  Biron comes into the fight the reigning heavyweight champion a title Martindale has previously held.  The 265 lb title has been a hot potato for FCFF lately and there’s no telling what will happen when these two heavy hitters collide in the cage.  Biron has finished 3 of his opponents by TKO and looks to make that 4 as he throws punches with bad intentions.  Martindale will look to knock off the undefeated Biron and capture the title all at the same time using his grappling skills to get Biron to tap out.  Martindale likes the arm triangle so if and when the fight hits the mat look for heavy punches from Biron and submissions from Martindale.

In the co-main event, Jordan Hinchman (3-1) fights Jeremy Morse (6-3) for the FCFF Light Heavyweight Title.  Hinchman comes into the bout holding the belt and looks to make his first title defense against Morse who has won 4 out of his last 5 fights.  Morse likes to grind down and wear out his opponents and he will have to have a full tank of cardio if he is going to be able to do it to Hinchman and take his title.  Hinchman is 12 years younger than Morse and has shown a quick grappling style.  None of Hinchman’s 4 fights have ever gone the distance so it will be interesting to see his high risk-high reward style matched up against the very methodical and workman like style of Morse.  Whichever fighter can get the pace of the fight where he wants it will be at a huge advantage inside the cage.

In the third title fight of the night for the FCFF Lightweight Championship, Clint Patterson (5-4) takes on William Hall (6-2) in a rematch that is over two years in the making.  Hall fights out of Team Quest and comes into the bout as champion looking to avenge an earlier loss in his career to Patterson.  Patterson defeated Hall by first round armbar in 2010 and this is Hall’s opportunity to get some sort of revenge.  Hall is an exciting fighter who has never had a fight go to the third round so expect him to come out guns blazing and push the pace from the opening bell.  For Patterson, if he can pull off another submission win or get a victory by any means necessary, he will not only have beaten the same opponent twice which is very hard to do, but he will walk away champion.  Patterson has the submission skills to win again, but Hall will also try and neutralize Patterson’s attacks with his wrestling and relentless style.  This could very well be fight of the night.
You won’t find more BANG for your buck so order this thrilling event.  Be sure to catch all of the action LIVE on May 19 as “Rumble at the Roseland 63” brings down the house on pay-per-view exclusively at GFL.tv.

IZW "Coronation" Preview

Poster coming soon!

“Coronation” is finally here and the chickens are finally going to come home to roost for Impact Inc.  For months, IZW Commissioner Brandon Bishop and his crew of undesirables (IZW Heavyweight Champion Aaron “The Bronze Bull” Neil, Impact Division Champion Jordan Jacobs, Shawn McHale, Damon Windsor and Starr Venus) have wreaked havoc at the IZW Arena in front of the Impact Zone Wrestling faithful but at “Coronation” the Prodigal Son of IZW will return!

But to wrestling fans around the world, Johnny Z is much more than a Prodigal Son.  He is the embodiment of everything that IS IZW – the founder, owner and creative force behind the company that is changing the wrestling world.  In the absence of Johnny Z and his leadership, Brandon Bishop has pulled a Jedi mind trick on almost half of the IZW roster and his first piece to securing his stranglehold of power was to lure the only 6-time IZW Champion in history, Aaron Neil into his fold.  Once Neil went for the golden carrot that was dangled in front of him, a large portion of IZW fell like a house of cards.  Even the blue chip prospect Jordan Jacobs decided to make a deal with the devil and turn his back on a promising career as he used blatant cheating to win the Impact Division Championship and has consistently pushed the envelope in doing whatever was necessary to hold onto his belt.

But even though all the dark days, IZW has still had a couple bright spots in the last few months.  Through it all, some have remained steadfast in their allegiance to the history and legacy of IZW most notably former 2-time IZW Champion, Jermaine Johnson, who has at times, single handily taken on Impact Inc. in the middle of the ring.  Although braver than most, Johnson suffered dearly for his miscalculations as Impact Inc. was merciless in handing out beating to Johnson on almost a weekly basis.  It took close to 20 chair shots to the head for Neil to finally dethrone Johnson at “March Mayhem”, IZW’s last iPPV, and ever since then Johnson has kept coming back for more and unfortunately for him, kept getting knocked down with the next beating worse than the last one.  But the good news is come May 12, Jermaine Johnson will finally have even odds in the form of tag team partner the “Natural Born Leader” Johnny Z who is making his long anticipated return back to the ring to take on the team of Aaron Neil and Brandon Bishop.  This bout is for all of the marbles of IZW.  Will Brandon Bishop and Aaron Neil’s reign of terror continue or will Jermaine Johnson and the returning Johnny Z be able to strike a knockout blow of their own and send Bishop and Neil scurrying back into whatever holes they crawled out of?

Another IZW pillar has been Double D who will go one-on-one with Jordan Jacobs in the finale of the 2012 Impact Player of the Year Tournament.  Both men will put their bodies on the line as this match will be a Ladder Match!  Anyone that watches IZW knows that Ladder Matches hold a special place in the history of the organization and for competitors like Double D and Jacobs, two of the premier high flyers in the sport, if you add to that their hatred for one another and the risks they will take to inflict permanent damage on one another, you could be looking at Match of the Year. Multiply all of that with a 12-foot steel ladder and all bets are off as to what will happen.  One thing is for certain, both Double D and Jordan Jacobs will never be the same again.

Also scheduled for “Coronation” is a Tag Team Title Match between Champions the Old School Suckas (Gary Tool & Randy Price) against Rage Logan and late replacement and member of Impact Inc., Damon Windsor.  Originally Nemesis was scheduled to challenge for the titles, but Logan’s partner Damien Morte had what could be a career ending injury so instead of sulking about the situation, the quick thinking Logan found himself a new partner and this could be a game changer as Windsor poses a much tough matchup problem for the OSS.  Windsor will be the strongest man in the ring during the bout and that mixed with Logan’s aerial assaults and mat wrestling could throw off the OSS just enough for new champions to be crowned.  But the OSS are such a veteran team, that they will be ready and have a new game plan on how to attack Logan and Windsor, but the addition of Windsor does make this match much more interesting for all parties, which is great news for the fans watching around the world on GFL.tv.

Also on the docket for “Coronation” is the first ever Queen's Quarrel Match pitting Starr Venus versus Erica versus Miss Diss Lexia versus Kyra Maya.  It will be a four-woman free-for-all as there will be no alliances here.  Starr Venus looks like an early favorite because of her association with Impact Inc. because if it’s one thing that’s been proven over and over again, it’s that Impact Inc. will do whatever is necessary for their guy, or girl, to get the win.  They will lie, cheat and steal and if that’s what Starr needs to happen, you can bet Impact Inc. will try their best to accommodate her.  But don’t discount Erica, Miss Diss Lexia and Kyra Maya.  All three of these women have proven to have the heart of a champion and the fighting spirit of a Samurai warrior.  When all four of these women get in the ring it’s a crap shoot as to what will happen.

In other action, Bryan Cruize continues his feud with the “Image of War” Kevin Morgan in another matchup of monsters.  Cruize has yet to be defeated by Morgan in IZW who leading up to their first meeting was on a 26-win streak.  Morgan is looking to get back a piece of what he lost to Cruize at “March Mayhem” and this would be a great time to do it as “Coronation” is IZW’s biggest iPPV to date.  For Cruize, if he can once again pin Morgan’s shoulders to the mat, he will have cemented himself as one of the top big men in not only IZW but around the country.

Watch all the feuds and all the rivalries inside and outside of the squared circle.  Tune in to the Mid-South’s premiere wrestling federation and find out what will happen at “Coronation” on May 12.  Watch professional wrestling like it’s supposed to be, rough and tumble and always in HD!  Order “Coronation” now on GFL.tv!

"Epic Fighting 12" Review

Poster coming soon!

“Epic Fighting 12” returned on the GFL Combat Sports Network from the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego, California.  The 11-bout card featured some of the rising locals in the Southern California area and provided a great night of action packed amateur fights.

In the main event, Kaiyana Rain (3-1) defeated Lena Hellgvist (1-2) for the Epic Fighting 115 lb Female Flyweight Championship in a razor thin decision.   In round one, Rain landed the heavier punches and did some damage to Hellgvist in the standup game.  In round two, it was too close to call as the women traded shots in the clinch and each female did damage to her opponent.  In round three, Hellgvist landed a takedown, but scoring wise that was nullified as Rain was successful in a takedown of her own.  In the end,  it was a highly competitive fight in which the fans got their monies worth as both of these females would be worthy of the victory.  On this night though, it was Rain who got the nod and the championship to go along with it.

In the co-main event, David Lee (2-0) defeated Francisco Castro (5-5) by split decision in a featherweight tilt.   In round one, Castro picked up a takedown to score points, but Lee nullified anything else by closing the distance and keeping a body lock on Castro to prevent spacing and any strikes being landed.  In round two it was more of the same as Castro went for a takedown and again Lee grabbed him holding on so that Castro could offer little in the way of offense.  In round three the fighters finally unleashed their full arsenal as Lee and Castro both threw kicks and punches, knowing the decision still hung in the balance.  Lee probably sealed the deal with a takedown of his own here as both men landed hard, meaningful shots earlier in the round.  There was already talk of the winner of this bout being next in line for a title shot at 145 lb.

Watch the stars of tomorrow compete today.  Be sure to catch all of the action still available on video on demand as Epic Fighting presents “Epic Fighting 12” on pay-per-view exclusively at GFL.tv.

All World Wrestling League "Burning Desire" Review

Poster coming soon!

All World Wrestling League (AWWL) made its debut on GFL.tv and it was a big night as “Burning Desire” crowned a new United States Champion, the first in over 20 years since the retirement of the Original Sheik.  AWWL has kept up the tradition of violent and intense wrestling, something the Original Sheik helped originate and popularize during his heyday in Michigan and around the world.  The tournament was filled with a who’s who of all the top wrestlers in the Midwest and by the end of the night a new champion had been crowned.

Making it to the finals of the four-man tournament was Rip Dog Johnson and Harker Dirge who squared off against each other for the newly up for grabs United States Heavyweight Championship.  Earlier in the night, Rip Dog defeated Rik Ragnarok in the first semi-final match while Dirge defeated Super Lover Man in the second semi-final match of the evening.  Johnson and Dirge both had grueling first round matches and neither man came into the contest at 100%.  Johnson had the upper hand early on as his athleticism and wrestling prowess confused Dirge.  But Dirge is the closest thing in AWWL to the Sheik and he had a few tricks up his sleeve including using a sharp object to slice the forehead of Rip Dog.  The blood caused initial confusion for Rip Dog and that set up the final series of events which included Dirge blowing fire into the face of Johnson, a trick the Sheik used for decades to overthrow his competition.  It was fitting that on this special occasion, someone who embodied the same fighting spirit as the Original Sheik won the tournament in his honor.  The future looks bright for Dirge and the AWWL and with a championship with so much historical significance, it makes AWWL that much more appealing to wrestling fans who remember the glory days and are looking for another wrestling company to carry on the great tradition.

Check out big-time wrestling as AWWL offers “Burning Desire” only on iPPV and only at GFL.tv.  Discover a new breed of wrestler tied to a long, rich history of wrestling, tune in to the All World Wrestling League.

May 5 IZW TV Review on GFL.tv

Poster coming soon!

Impact Inc. was back up to its old tricks one week before “Coronation” as the May 5 free HD broadcast of IZW TV ended with Jermaine Johnson on the wrong side of a 4 on 1 butt kicking as IZW Heavyweight Champion Aaron “The Bronze Bull” Neil, Impact Division Champion “Lights Out” Jordan Jacobs, Impact Inc.’s Enforcer Damon Windsor and mouthpiece Shawn McHale all laid waste to the former 2-time IZW Heavyweight Champion in the middle of the ring at the behest of Impact Inc.’s leader and IZW Commissioner Brandon Bishop who gave a play-by-play of the destruction live via the Internet and also barked out instructions and cheered on the beatdown.  It was a sad state of affairs as nobody in the IZW locker-room came out to help Johnson, which proves once again how much Impact Zone Wrestling needs Johnny Z to return to challenge the balance of power which is decidedly in the favor of Impact Inc.  The only question is with such a one-sided curb stomping that Johnson endured, it’s anyone’s guess how recovered Johnson will be going into the tag team event with him and Z versus Bishop and Neil?  But it certainly won’t be 100% which will once again tilt the scales in Impact Inc.’s favor for this all-important match.

The main event of the evening that preceded the Johnson thrashing was another easy win for the champ as Aaron Neil destroyed Bobby Starr.  In fact, Neil broke more of a sweat in the aftermath of the match where he leveled Johnson multiple times then in this charade of a match.

In other action, Bryan Cruize looked impressive as he defeated Jordan Jacobs albeit by disqualification.  Cruize has a great mixture of power moves and athletic flying in his repertoire and is definitely a star on the rise in IZW.  He poses matchup problems from everyone from the monster Kevin Morgan to the high flying Jordan Jacobs.   Cruize looked to be in control and on his way to a clean victory when the aforementioned Morgan came down to the ring and landed several hard punches to Cruize’s head, setting up another showdown between the two giants at “Coronation”.

In other news, Rage Logan recruited Damon Windsor to be his tag team partner at “Coronation” to face the Old School Suckas (Randy Price and Gary Tool) for the IZW Tag Team Titles, as Damien Morte is out of action for the foreseeable future with an undisclosed career threatening injury.  It will be interesting to see who has the advantage at “Coronation” as the team of Logan and Windsor will have a different dynamic than Logan and Morte shared.  It might be too soon for Logan and Windsor to gel together as a team, especially going up against the famed Old School Suckas.  It will definitely pose a problem for the OSS in game planning as Windsor brings another level of power and strength to the equation.

With less than a week left until “Coronation” on May 12 this IZW TV broadcast is a must see for any wrestling fan to get you primed for Saturday’s iPPV.  And the best part of it all…it’s FREE.  Tune in to GFL.tv to catch up on all the past episodes of IZW or to re-watch the instant classics.

Showdown Fights "Uprising" Review

Showdown Fights, the top MMA organization in Utah, provided another night of exciting fights as it presented “Uprising”, to a packed crowd at the UCCU Events Center in Orem, Utah.  The 10-bout card featured 7 highlighted by the main event and co-main event.   Utah MMA has flown under the radar for over a decade, but after watching this event, it will be hard to ignore the “Beehive State”.

In the main event, Sean O’Connell (11-5) defeated Kip Ramos (4-1) via KO in the first round of their light heavyweight battle.  It was an impressive win for O’Connell who won in under a minute.  It was a mad scramble in the ring as both O’Connell and Ramos were throwing haymakers in the cage and O’Connell finally connected with a hard left hook sending Ramos down to the mat where O’Connell  continued to land a series of punches until the ref finally called a halt to the match.  O’Connell said afterwards he was ready to battle any 205 lb fighter and this bout seemed to indicate he would do quite well against most.

In the co-main event, Utah native Brock Jardine (9-1) defeated Blas Avena (7-6) via TKO in round two.  Round one saw Jardine and Avena trade strikes inside the clinch with Jardine working a nice knee to elbow combo.  It was a close round as both men landed their shots but Jardine probably won the round.  In round two, Jardine hurt Avena in the middle of the round with a body shot which took all of the wind out of Avena.  Avena had his hands low, protecting against another body shot, but Jardine was able to land another shot to the mid-section and then went for the head with a series of punches and kicks until Avena dropped to his bottom and the ref called a halt to the fight.

May 5 IZW Preview on GFL.tv

The May 5 edition of IZW is the go-home show for IZW’s grandest iPPV to date “Coronation” scheduled for May 12.  Last week Brandon Bishop unveiled a new layer to his scheme as he re-introduced a revamped and in his opinion, a better version of Impact Inc.  The newest rendering consists of 6 members, along with Bishop, IZW Heavyweight Champion Aaron “The Bronze Bull” Neil, Impact Division Champion Jordan Jacobs, Damon Windsor, Starr Venus and Shawn McHale make up the new regime.  This move was made in large part to goad and challenge Johnny Z’s legacy.  Johnny Z is the founder of not only IZW but Impact Inc., a group he has been associated with in some form or fashion for close to a decade.  Now he is on the outside looking in at this new realignment of his dream team, and for a competitor like Johnny Z this has to make his blood boil.  Lucky for him, he and his tag team partner Jermaine Johnson will get the opportunity to get their hands on Bishop and Neil at “Coronation” as they are matched up in a highly anticipated tag team match that is sure to settle more than one score.  Will Impact Inc. try once more to test Johnny Z before the pay-per-view?  They have not let sleeping dogs lie yet, so it’s a good bet Johnny Z’s honor will once again be challenged on the final show before “Coronation”.  But at what cost to Impact Inc.?

Also, last week Jacobs ambushed Double D from the back injuring him once again.  This will be the final time both men are in the same building until the night of their Impact Player of Year Tournament Final, a Ladder Match which will determine the real megastar of IZW.  There can be only one victor and to him will go the spoils, so Double D better have eyes in the back of his head because the cheap shot artist Jordan Jacobs only knows one way to attack and that’s from behind.
