CFFC XIX Preview

Poster coming soon!

Cage Fury Fighting Championships is bringing professional MMA back to New Jersey on November 3 with CFFC XIX. Pro MMA fighters from around the East Coast will compete on a 12-bout card, including 2 title fights, held at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa as CFFC returns to its roots and home base of Atlantic City, New Jersey.

In the main event, Chris “The Story” Liguori (15-9) defends his CFFC Lightweight Championship against challenger Luiz Azeredo (13-9).  Liguori is on a 3-fight win streak and has found great success in the 155 lb division.  Liguori used to compete at 170 lb, but the drop in divisions has given Liguori an advantage in strength while still maintaining his superb cardio conditioning.  Liguori trains out of Ricardo Almeida’s gym in New Jersey and is the training partner of former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar.  There is nothing Liguori is going to see in the cage that he doesn’t see every day in practice.  Liguori is an expert grappler but also likes to outwork his opponents and push the pace for an entire fight.  For Azeredo, the Bellator and PRIDE veteran, he is coming into the fight looking to get his career back on the right track after suffering a tough loss in Bellator last year.  A win over the champion will do just that.  Azeredo is an exceptional grappler in his own right but probably his biggest claim to fame is defeating current UFC Champion and Pound for Pound King Anderson Silva earlier in both men’s MMA debut.

In the co-main event, with the CFFC Featherweight Title on the line, Artur Rofi (5-0) battles Lester Caslow (8-6) for the vacant Championship.  Rofi is a monster at 145 lb and you won’t find a more aggressive fighter out there.  Perhaps more impressive than his undefeated streak, is the fact that all have come via finishes.  A fighter that packs a powerful punch, Rofi’s grappling is his strongest asset, especially from his back as he can secure a triangle or armbar in the blink of an eye.  Caslow is no stranger to tough fighters as he will pose the strongest test to date for Rofi.  Caslow is battle-tested in the cage and the Bellator veteran has KO power in both hands as well as a strong grappling game to go with it.  The winner of this bout deserves the title as the #1 Featherweight Fighter in the Northeast.  It should be a barnburner.

Be sure to catch all of the action LIVE on November 3 as CFFC XIX brings down the house on pay-per-view exclusively at GFL.tv. See the established and rising stars on the East Coast compete in front of some of the most avid fans. Be a part of the excitement and order this iPPV from the GFL Combat Sports Network.

IZW presents Halloween Hangover on GFL.tv

Poster coming soon!

The Fall Classic is finally here as IZW presents Halloween Hangover on November 3, live and broadcast throughout the world on GFL.tv.  There are plenty of feuds that will come to a head tonight and every IZW Championship will be on the line, including for the first time ever, the IZW World Heavyweight Champion held by Double D defended in the Monsters Bash Battle Royal!  Every wrestler on the IZW roster will compete for a chance to win the most prized and esteemed belt in Independent wrestling and if Double D is to retain his title, and remain the Undisputed Champion of the World, he will need to have one of his finest days as a professional, because he will start out as the #1 Contender and have to go through each and every wrestler in the promotion to be able to keep a hold of the 20 lb of championship gold.  Everything Impact Elite has thrown at Double D since he defeated “The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil at Redemption hinges on what happens during the Monsters Bash Battle Royal.  Led by Madam Commissioner Erica, the deck has been stacked from the very beginning with Double D constantly being put in handicap matches and the icing on the cake, Neil being given the final slot in the match.  This is the match where legends will be made and careers shattered.

The Impact Division Title will also be at stake in a 5-Way Impact Scramble Match as recently crowned Champion Jermaine Johnson defends against four challengers; former Champions Damien Morte and “Lights Out” Jordan Jacobs, Kyle “Machine Gun” Kelly and “The Brass Bull” Bobby Starr.  Johnson has upped his game ten-fold since winning the Impact Division Championship and he is hell bent on not only defending that title, but walking away from the Monsters Bash Battle Royal as the new IZW World Heavyweight Champion.  If Johnson can do that, he will do something now other IZW Superstar in history has ever done, in holding concurrently the top two singles titles in IZW.  But before he can think about the Heavyweight Title he will need to pass his own gauntlet of opponents as former Champion Morte is determined to win back the title he lost after never being pinned.  Morte had a head of steam going during his title run as he knocked of Jacobs to claim the strap earlier this year after Jacobs held the title longer than almost anyone in history.  If Morte can dig deep and return to the maniacal place he was at during his title run, where he used his body as a weapon, chances are stacked in his favor to become a 2X Impact Division Champion.  And you can never count out Kelly and Starr as both men are looking for their first taste of championship gold in IZW.

Also on deck, in a 4 Corner Tag Team Match for the IZW World Tag Team Titles, it will be Champions Big Business ( “The Image of War” Kevin Morgan & “The Big Picture” Damon Windsor) defending against Cody Jones & Copycat, Aerial Assault (“Daredevil” Dane Griffin & “High Risk” Joe Herell) and The Old School Suckas (Randy Price & Bryan Cruize).  Big Business has had its share of ups and downs with the opposing three teams and this match is as close to a pick’em as you will ever see.  Each team brings a unique advantage into the bout.  Big Business has the size and strength, Jones and Copycat have the technical prowess, Aerial Assault has the airborne maneuvers and The Old School Suckas have the experience.  The winners will be able to decisively say, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are the best tag team IZW ever produced.

For his comeback match, the returning Johnny Z will face his former friend of 10 years, Aaron Neil in a Steel Cage Match.  To call this bout a Grudge Match is to understate the obvious.  Z and Neil have battled side by side, two brothers in arms for years, taking on every challenge that has ever come to the Southwest promotion.  But when Neil decided to forgo being the “Real Deal” for the “The Bronze Bull” all of that changed.  Neil has been on a tear in 2012 winning the IZW World Title for a record six times for his career, but also disgracing and dishonoring himself and his legacy that he’s built for the last decade, some wonder if it was worth it.  Johnny Z is one critic who will get to voice his opinion in an up close and personal way as Z will have Neil locked in a cage one on one.  Both men are scheduled to also compete in the Monsters Bash Battle Royal, and they very may well be in the ring for that.  But both men are going to leave a piece of not only their body, but also their soul in the steel cage.  This bout will not be for the faint of heart.

The women’s division has heated up to an all-time high, as the top three female grapplers on the Independent scene will all compete in a Triple Threat Match as “The Queen of IZW” Venus, “The Megastar” Angel Blue and Kyra Maya will lock horns inside the squared circle.  On the outset it looks like Blue will be at a severe disadvantage as Venus will no doubt have support from Impact Elite and Maya will have The Convict in her corner.  Will this be a case of two on one, or will it be every woman for herself?  All three ladies are driven by a belief that they are the best around and the winner of this bout will be able to make that claim.  Will Venus finally get the respect as “The Queen of IZW” that she feels she deserves, or will Blue foil her impending coronation yet another time.  And what about Maya?  She has found a kindred spirit with The Convict and there’s no doubt these two are in their element when dishing out pain and suffering.  Anything can and will happen in the match.

Nobody does it better!  Watch all the feuds and all the rivalries inside and outside of the ring.  Tune in to the Southwest's premiere wrestling federation and find out what will happen next. CFFC XVIII Preview

Cage Fury Fighting Championships is bringing professional MMA to Richmond, Virginia on October 27 with CFFC XVIII. This will be the first show of its kind in Central Virginia. Pro MMA fighters from the Mid-Atlantic area will compete on a 13-bout card held at the Richmond Raceway Complex as CFFC continues to expand into new markets along the Eastern seaboard.

In the main event, Mike Wade (3-2) battles UFC vet Kris McCray (8-3).  Wade is a fighter that possesses great takedowns and likes to break the will of his opponents inside of the cage.  His relentless attacks and ground control usually wear out his opponents.  Wade has excellent cardio and likes to push the pace from the opening bell.  But this fight will be Wade’s toughest challenge to date as the caliber of his opponent is through the roof.  McCray comes into the fight on a 3-fight win streak including a victory with Bellator.  McCray is looking to get back into the UFC and an impressive win here could be the launching pad for that goal.  McCray possesses KO power in both hands and he is always on the attack.  With both fighters looking to be the aggressor, something has to give in this bout.  Expect a barnburner from the opening bell.

In the co-main event, Johnny Curtis (7-2) fights Randy Smith (13-12-1) in a heavyweight tilt.  Curtis is on a 6-fight win streak and will be looking for a submission from the get go.  A grappling wizard, Curtis is one of the most feared heavyweights in Virginia as once the fight hits the mat, he is constantly working for a fight ending hold.  Curtis has a strong takedown to go with his submission game.  Smith is the type of fighter who is ready for anybody.  He has fought under the Bellator banner as well as fought former UFC Champion Tim Sylvia.  Smith will have the experience advantage and be looking to make short work of Curtis.  Smith is a brute of a fighter and it takes a lot to get him off of his game.  His punching power could be the difference in this battle of top rate heavyweights.

Be sure to catch all of the action LIVE on October 27 as CFFC XVIII brings down the house on pay-per-view exclusively at GFL.tv.  See the rising stars on the East Coast compete in front of some of the most avid fans.  Be a part of the excitement and order this iPPV from the GFL Combat Sports Network.

Ring of Combat XLIII Preview

Poster coming soon!

Ring of Combat returns November 16 with Ring of Combat XLIII at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey or streaming on iPPV through the GFL Combat Sports Network.  3 titles are on the line as ROC continues to be the linchpin of East Coast MMA and this 13-bout, card reiterates its dominance as the top dog in the Tri-State area.

The main event, Ryan LaFlare (6-0) fights James Brasco (7-6) for the ROC Welterweight Championship.  LaFlare won the title back in 2010 and has since defended the belt once winning via TKO in round one.  LaFlare is a rising star as he has finished every opponent and showcased a well-rounded standup game and ground game in every fight.  LaFlare continues to get better and has proven he likes to get off to a fast start as he has never gone to a third round.  For Brasco, he will have to use his experience in the cage and try to wear down LaFlare and test his cardio in the later, championship rounds.  Something nobody has been able to do up to this point.  Brasco is naturally the bigger fighter, having spent a good portion of his career fighting at middleweight.  He should bring a strength advantage into the bout against LaFlare so look for Brasco to try and wear down LaFlare in the clinch and if it goes to the mat.  This is a top-notch title fight and the winner of the bout can consider himself the best 170 lb champion on the East Coast.

In one co-main event, Champion Greg Soto (9-3) battles Elijah Harshbarger (6-4) for the ROC Championship.  Soto won the title back in 2011 and will make his first title defense against the always tough Virginia native Harshbarger.  Soto is a veteran of the UFC and has showed an ability to finish opponents with both his striking and submission game.  Soto is a fan favorite for his fast paced style and willingness to trade shots, something that will most assuredly happen in this bout.  For Harshbarger, he returns to ROC looking to make the most of a second opportunity to go for ROC gold.  Earlier in his career he fought UFC veteran Pete Sell in a bout that Harshbarger was winning until an unfortunate mistake on the ground cost him the fight.  This bout is a chance to correct those past mistakes and define his stellar career.  Harshbarger is a tremendous wrestler, world-class level, and will look to control the fight through takedowns, body control and positioning.  Also an expert grappler, this bout could be a chess match if it hits the mat.

In another co-main event, Champion Deividas Taurosevicus (15-5) battles challenger and Bellator veteran Frank Caraballo (11-4) for the ROC Featherweight Title.  Taurosevicus has strung together 3 wins in a row in ROC (all by submission) after stints with Bellator, WEC and the IFL.  Taurosevicus is a grappling specialist who has 10 of his victories via tapout.  Taurosevicus implements an aggressive style and always takes the center of the cage ready to do damage and looking for a takedown.  From there, the Renzo Gracie trained fighter is constantly working for position to secure a submission hold.  Caraballo hails from Ohio where he holds Ohio’s top 145 lb strap and looks to take out the #1 ranked 145 lb fighter in the Tri-State area.  This bout could be contested under any promotional banner as it is two of the top ranked featherweights in the world going head to head in the prime of their careers.

You won’t find a more thrilling card then this one. Be sure to catch all of the action LIVE on November 16 as Ring of Combat presents Ring of Combat XLIII exclusively on pay-per-view at GFL.tv.

Oct. 27 Preview of IZW TV on GFL.tv

Poster coming soon!

This week’s edition of IZW TV on GFL.tv is the go-home show before Halloween Hangover on November 3.  You can bet after last week’s episode everyone in IZW is looking to leave one final mark in the Impact Arena before the big showdown on iPPV.

After last week’s dismantling of The Convict, IZW Heavyweight Champion Double D proved that he is a true force against anyone in a one on one match.  The only problem is Impact Elite doesn’t fight fair, and there is no doubt that Madam Commissioner Erica will have something up her sleeve for the Champion.  But so far, Double D has blasted through every challenge set before him and he seems like a man possessed who will do anything to remain IZW Heavyweight Champion.

This will also be the final time before Halloween Hangover that Johnny Z and “The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil will be together in the Impact Arena.  After last week’s huge victory for Neil where he secured his position as the final entrant in the Monsters Bash Battle Royal, his world came crashing down as Johnny Z landed a perfect Big Boot crumbling Neil to the mat.  Earlier in last week’s show, Johnny Z gave a heartfelt speech as to why he challenged Neil to a Steel Cage Match at Halloween Hangover and after listening to Johnny Z he is a man on a mission.  A mission to make Neil suffer and suffer dearly.

Scheduled to wrestle this week will be Impact Division Champion Jermaine Johnson defending his Championship against Bobby Starr in an Impact Rules Match.  The rules are simple.  There are no rules.  You can do whatever you want, use whatever foreign object you can get your hands on and do all sorts of felonious activities in an Impact Rules Match.  Impact Elite will no doubt be in tow backing Starr’s every move and possibly getting involved so Johnson will have to be prepared for that reality.   Johnson is no stranger to specialty matches; in fact he thrives in this environment, so he will have a few tricks up his sleeve as well.  For Starr this is his opportunity to win his first title in IZW as well as go into Halloween Hangover as the Champion.  Johnson is used to having a bullseye on his chest so defending against Starr this week and if he wins, against four wrestlers (Damien Morte, Jordan Jacobs, Kyle Kelly and Starr) at Halloween Hangover is something Johnson not only welcomes but embraces.

Hang on folks; there is more to the story as IZW presents its final event before the Fall Classic Halloween Hangover.
