Cage Fury Fighting Championships is bringing professional
MMA back to New Jersey on November 3 with CFFC
XIX. Pro MMA fighters from around the East Coast will compete on a 12-bout
card, including 2 title fights, held at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa as
CFFC returns to its roots and home base of Atlantic City, New Jersey.
In the main event, Chris “The Story” Liguori (15-9) defends his CFFC Lightweight Championship against challenger Luiz Azeredo (13-9). Liguori is on a 3-fight win streak and has found great success in the 155 lb division. Liguori used to compete at 170 lb, but the drop in divisions has given Liguori an advantage in strength while still maintaining his superb cardio conditioning. Liguori trains out of Ricardo Almeida’s gym in New Jersey and is the training partner of former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar. There is nothing Liguori is going to see in the cage that he doesn’t see every day in practice. Liguori is an expert grappler but also likes to outwork his opponents and push the pace for an entire fight. For Azeredo, the Bellator and PRIDE veteran, he is coming into the fight looking to get his career back on the right track after suffering a tough loss in Bellator last year. A win over the champion will do just that. Azeredo is an exceptional grappler in his own right but probably his biggest claim to fame is defeating current UFC Champion and Pound for Pound King Anderson Silva earlier in both men’s MMA debut.
In the co-main event, with the CFFC Featherweight Title on the line, Artur Rofi (5-0) battles Lester Caslow (8-6) for the vacant Championship. Rofi is a monster at 145 lb and you won’t find a more aggressive fighter out there. Perhaps more impressive than his undefeated streak, is the fact that all have come via finishes. A fighter that packs a powerful punch, Rofi’s grappling is his strongest asset, especially from his back as he can secure a triangle or armbar in the blink of an eye. Caslow is no stranger to tough fighters as he will pose the strongest test to date for Rofi. Caslow is battle-tested in the cage and the Bellator veteran has KO power in both hands as well as a strong grappling game to go with it. The winner of this bout deserves the title as the #1 Featherweight Fighter in the Northeast. It should be a barnburner.
