December 29 Review of IZW on GFL

Poster coming soon!
The December 29 edition of IZW TV on GFL was the final show of the year and the first show coming on the heels of Chaotic Christmas.    The night was packed full of great wrestling, thriving feuds, and even wedding planning!  Don’t miss the final show of 2012 as IZW brings out the heavy hitters and crushes one, final homerun as we head into the New Year.

The night kicked off with the owner of IZW, “The Natural Born Leader” Johnny Z front and center with another episode of “Catching Some Z’s with Johnny Z” where he brought out his guest “Number 1” Shawn McHale to dish on the impeding wedding between “The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil and “The Golden Goddess” Venus.  McHale barely started to give the deets on the Golden Engagement when Madam Commissioner Erica showed up, in part, to scold McHale for taking part in the conversation.   Z used the opportunity to change the conversation and talk about Impact Elite, pirates and even Jordan Jacobs, all with Erica being the brunt of every punch line imaginable.   The conversation finally came full circle as the Golden Engagement was back on the table and Z put McHale on the hot seat by asking why Neil proposed to Venus in the first place.  Erica intervened once again and dismissed McHale to the back before Z could pull out some juicy tidbits.

To open up the in ring action, newly crowned 2-time Impact Division Champion Jermaine Johnson defeated Kyle “Machine Gun” Kelly in an Impact Rules Match.  After going through hell and back a week earlier at Chaotic Christmas in the Impact X Match, where Johnson defeated four other opponents, being one on one with Kelly was a welcome change for the Leader of the Hype Section.  Johnson tore into Kelly with forearms and fists before Kelly put his weight into things and stopped Johnson’s attack cold by showing off his own power.  At one point, Kelly stood on the second rope looking to jump on Johnson, but at the last possible second, Johnson moved out of the way and Kelly hit the canvas hard.  Three clotheslines by Johnson later and the wrestlers tumbled outside of the ring.  But the action quickly returned to the squared circle where Kelly locked Johnson up in a tight bear hug.  Johnson’s lungs and ribcage were being crushed under the pressure, but Johnson landed a series of hard elbows to the base of Kelly’s skull, totally legal in an Impact Rules Match, and then followed up with a modified sitdown Rock Bottom.    But Kelly’s recuperative power was on full display as he kicked out of the move and landed a side slam of his own that crushed Johnson’s midsection even more.  After a small comeback by Johnson, Kelly again landed a devastating slam, this time a power slam that could be heard throughout the Impact Arena.  In the move of the match, Kelly grabbed Johnson by the wrist and walked up to the top rope, reminiscent of The Undertaker’s Old School move, only to have Johnson flip the switch and catapult Kelly from the ropes slamming him down to the mat.  Johnson then followed up with an ES2 and got the pinfall against the rough, rugged and super athletic big man Kyle Kelly.

“The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil won a hard fought slugfest against O’Malley that was all over the arena as these two gladiators destroyed one another with nothing but bone-crushing moves that resembled a prize fight in the heavyweight division from boxing’s golden era.  Very few wrestlers can match Neil strength for strength and blow for blow, but O’Malley did just that and then some for much of the match, including crushing Neil to the mat using his own weight as Neil went for a press slam, which O’Malley then followed up with a body slam and an overhand right hand to Jordan Jacobs who came down from the announcers’ booth to try and intervene.  “The Brass Bull” Bobby Starr took a right hand too, but not before throwing his brass scepter to his mentor Neil which Neil then used to cave in the forehead of O’Malley while Erica distracted the ref.  O’Malley was fighting a numbers game and his number finally got punched as Impact Elite was too much to overcome all in one match.

In the main event, Double D defended his World Championship by defeating Bobby Starr.  D unleashed the beast as he was mano y mano with the last man to beat him in the ring as Starr defeated D a few weeks ago in a non-title bout.  D showcased his vast wrestling repertoire at Starr’s expense at one point showing he could just about cripple the challenger with the seldom used but very effective arm ringer.  Later, Starr changed the tone of the match in a big way, once the action got outside of the ring.  Starr smashed the Champion’s head against the ring apron and threw D back into the ring, where he proceeded to try and stomp a hole in D’s head.  D and Starr traded chops in the corner with Double D getting the upper hand in the exchanges.  Starr tried to escape the onslaught by ducking out of the ring, but D followed up with a springboard over the top rope and pancaked Starr to the ground on impact.  Starr turned the tables again by crotching Double D on the top turnbuckle and threw punches in bunches as D was doubled over in pain.  A sunset flip by Double D followed by several knees to Starr’s midsection and a knee to Starr’s head swung the bout back in D’s favor.  With the Impact Arena going crazy by this point, Starr pulled off an incredible head-butt that stopped Double D in his tracks, but shortly after D landed a knee to Starr’s face followed by an enziguri that crumbled Starr.  From the outside of the ring, Neil tried to intervene, giving Starr enough time to recover and hit a spinebuster, followed by a single leg Boston Crab attempt and a clothesline as Double D lay semi-conscious in the corner of the ring.  Starr, Venus and Neil then had an argument about the brass scepter, as it looked like Neil was trying to give Starr the weapon and get him intentionally disqualified.  This skirmish gave Double D enough time to land a round house kick to Starr’s head followed by ten knees to the face.  D then landed his patented crossbody from the top rope and got the pinfall to retain his title…but Double D’s night wasn’t over.

As D celebrated, The Convict came down to the ring and they went at it with D attacking first with a series of punches and knees to The Convict’s head that had absolutely no effect on the King of the Yard.  The Convict shook off D’s attack and delivered the 15 to 20 that put Double D’s lights out.  The Convict has set his sights on the ultimate prize in IZW, the World Heavyweight Championship and that paints a huge bullseye on Double D’s chest heading into 2013.  D has overcome every obstacle that he’s ever faced, but The Convict is a rare collection of intellect, strength and downright savagery.  It’s anyone’s guess what will happen in the New Year, but there’s only one sure fire way to find out!  Tune in to IZW every Saturday live on GFL.tv.

Election year is not over yet.  Got to izwrestling.com and vote for the Year End Awards which will take place on January 5 live!

December 29 Preview of IZW TV

The December 29 edition of IZW TV on GFL is the final show of 2012 as IZW puts a stamp on its most successful year in history.  With tons of fallout from Chaotic Christmas, there’s no telling what is going to happen as we head into the New Year.

Double D managed to hold of the Titan of Wrestling as he defeated “The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil in an epic one on one match where both men tore the house down and delivered an animalistic beating on one another.  Double D had the shiner to prove it from taking a belt shot square in the face.  Double D managed to overcome two Greetings From Mt. Olympus’ and several attempts at a Boston Crab, not to mention Madam Commissioner Erica lurking ringside, to defend his title against the greatest IZW Heavyweight Champion of all-time.  What is left for Double D to prove in 2012?  Could Impact Elite have one, final trick up its sleeve to try and wrestle the World Championship off of the man who has carried the title with such honor for the past several months?

There are also new Champions in IZW.  Jermaine Johnson reclaimed the Impact Division Championship proving he is the King of Special Matches in IZW as he defeated four other grapplers in an Impact X Match, the first of its kind, in truly spectacular fashion.  All five combatants, Johnson, Morte, Jacobs, Starr and The Convict gave everything they had in this bout and set the bar extremely high for any future wrestlers who ever wish to compete in an Impact X Match.  After overcoming all odds at Chaotic Christmas, who will be Johnson’s first challenger to his newly won Impact Division Title?

The Old School Suckas (Randy Price & Bryan Cruize) also won the IZW Tag Team Championship from Big Business (Damon Windsor & Kevin Morgan) thanks in large part to the returning Sucka himself Coach Gary Tool.  The Suckas celebration has a short shelf life though, as Team Remix (Copycat & Cody Jones) claimed the title of #1 Challengers and are hot on the heels of the new champs.  Team Remix has taken IZW by storm since joining forces and the veteran OSS will have their hands full whenever they lock horns with Team Remix down the line.

This is who we are! Nobody does it better! Watch all the feuds and all the rivalries inside and outside of the ring. Tune in to the Southwest's premiere wrestling federation and find out what will happen next. Watch professional wrestling like it's supposed to be, rough and tumble and always in HD at GFL.tv.

Comcast subscribers, Halloween Hangover is still being broadcast in select markets on Comcast SportsNet and Chaotic Christmas begins airing this weekend.  Check your local listing for details.

IZW Chaotic Christmas Review

Poster coming soon!

IZW saved the best for last, as Chaotic Christmas brought the house down with tons of great wrestling, title changes, nail-biting drama and proving that IZW is the leader in Independent wrestling in North America.

In the main event, IZW Heavyweight Champion Double D defeated “The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil in a historic bout that put Double D into another stratosphere as a professional wrestler.  Double D started off by attacking Neil’s hands with an effective but seldom used wristlock that he pulled, tweaked and manipulated until Neil was screaming like a baby before finally breaking the illegal hold after a 5-count by special referee Johnny Z.  Double D and Neil then traded side headlocks each reversing the other with the bigger and stronger Neil getting the better of the exchanges.  Then for some odd reason, Neil went after Z with a side headlock, but was quickly reversed as Z turned the tables with his own headlock.

Double D recovered enough and landed a series of headlock takedowns, keeping Neil off his tree trunk legs and powerful base.  A few moments later the action moved outside of the ring as Double D slammed Neil into the barricade and guardrail right in front of the fans.  The wrestlers then made their way around the entire ringside area with D landing forearms to Neil’s face and crashing Neil’s ribs into the guardrail.  D got cute and paid for it as he tried to flip Neil over onto the floor with his legs, but Neil blocked the move and swung D’s head into the guardrail changing the complexion of the match instantly.  Neil wasn’t finished as he hurled D into the steel steps with D’s head leading the way.  Neil smelled blood as he further attacked D outside of the ring dropping him ribs first on the guardrail.  Neil also landed a series of chops on the outside that tore into the flesh of Double D with enough force to collapse a normal man’s lungs.  The action finally returned to the ring where Neil continued to pummel Double D with strikes as it looked like IZW would be crowning a new Heavyweight Champion.

In the greatest feat of strength of the night, Neil superplexed Double D from the second rope, but what was most impressive was how Neil held D up vertically for what seemed like eternity until finally dropping the hammer and bringing D’s body crashing to the mat below.  Neil tried to lock in his Boston Crab submission but D’s core strength was able to thwart every attempt finally changing the momentum of the bout back in his favor by landing a knee to Neil’s face.  D then went for a crossbody off the tope rope but was scouted well by Neil as Neil reversed the move into a Greetings From Mt. Olympus that shook the Impact Arena to its core.  Neil went for the move a second time, but got reversed into a Defacer by Double D.  D then set Neil up for his patented knees in the corner, but Neil stopped the assault with a low blow.  Neil then had an argument with Johnny Z that culminated in Z taking the belt away from Neil as he attempted to use it as a weapon.  This gave Double D an opportunity to climb to the top rope and go for his crossbody finisher for the second time in the match, but this time he missed and landed on Johnny Z instead!  Neil then picked up the Championship belt one more time, and walloped D in the face with it.  By the time groggy Johnny Z made his way over to count, Double D kicked out with authority!  Neil seemed to snap here as he gave Johnny Z a Greetings From Mt. Olympus.  Neil landed the same move once again on Double D this time.

With no referee, the dreaded and devious Mark Wilson ran down to the ring to count the pinfall, but Double D got a shoulder up once again.  While Neil and Erica began to argue with Wilson about the count, Double D, now with a huge black eye from the earlier belt shot by Neil,  recovered and hit a flying knee on Neil.   Double D then grabbed Erica and gave her the Force sign before moving out of the way as Neil bulldozed into the Madam Commissioner on accident, knocking her off the ropes.  Double D then placed another knee on Neil’s jaw before going up to the top rope once again for one final crossbody attempt that found its mark this time as referee Mark Wilson counted the 1-2-3!  Double D is still your IZW World Heavyweight Champion!

In other action, The Old School Suckas (Randy Price & Bryan Cruize) defeated Big Business (Damon Windsor & Kevin Morgan) to win the Tag Titles in a Last Chance Match.  The OSS made the most of their final opportunity.  The OSS came out like two bats out of hell going right after BB.  Cruize once again showed he is a powerhouse mixed with athleticism as he landed a springboard shoulder block on Windsor that sent him down to the mat.  Price tagged in and got a 2-count on Windsor, but the big man fought back landing a sidewalk slam and turning the tide of the match that had been dominated in the early part by the Suckas.  Next it was Morgan’s turn as he and Price proceeded to have a knock down drag out fight with each man landing overhand rights with Morgan getting the better of the exchanges.

After tag-ins by each team it was back to Windsor and Cruize.  Windsor landed a nice snap suplex and was close on his own pinfall attempt.  BB worked in some double team action in the corner culminating in a running clothesline by Morgan.  But in the melee Price tagged himself in and took on both members of BB by landing a huge elbow to Windsor’s jaw and a boot to the gut that slowed down Morgan.  Price misfired on his top rope, spinning moonsault as he crashed into the referee on accident as Windsor used the ref as a shield.  With the ref down and out for the moment, the Suckas delivered the Sucka Slam to Windsor but had no ref to count the pinfall.  Eventually Morgan cleared house culminating with a Detonator (double chokeslam) from Big Business on Cruize.  But then, Santa made an appereance!  Santa gave Morgan his present bag and in it was a Classic Old School Suckas shirt.  Santa was the returning Gary Tool!  Tool leveled Morgan and then Tool and Price gave Morgan a Sucka Slam as Price followed up with a pinfall just as the ref came to.  Christmas came early for the Old School Suckas as they won the tag team titles with help from “Santa”.

Up next for the OSS are the #1 Challengers Team Remix (Cody Jones & Copycat) who defeated Aerial Assault (Dane Griffin & Joe Herell) earlier in the night to claim that spot.  Jones was in a zone showing off all kinds of moves and the speed in which he was bouncing around the ring doing counters and holds was dizzying.  Copycat showcased solid mat based wrestling as he kept Griffin grounded and worked over his neck.    Griffin managed to spin out of Copycat’s hold and tagged in Herell as Copycat tagged in Jones.  Jones and Herell had a nice series of moves where they went tit for tat with rollovers and duckouts highlighted by Jones landing in the middle of the top rope like a cat and being flung back to the ring by Herell.  In one of the moves of the night, all four men were involved in a hybrid powerbomb, superplex with Jones the top man and Griffin doing the heavy lifting on the bottom on the twisted totem pole of bodies.  All 4 wrestlers had the wind knocked out of them by this move.  Griffin recovered first and went to work on Team Remix dropping Copycat and landing a springboard DDT on Jones.  But Copycat was able to land a Stunner on Griffin followed by a flying double knees by Jones on Herell as Team Remix pulled it all together and scored a pinfall out of nowhere to claim the #1 Contenders Spot.  When the OSS and Team Remix finally hook up it will be one for the ages and push the envelope on athleticism, aggression and fast paced wrestling.

Jermaine Johnson won the Impact Division Title after defeating The Convict, Jordan Jacobs, Damien Morte and Bobby Starr in the first ever Impact X Match that was a bout for the ages and showed just how cutting edge IZW and its wrestlers are.  Johnson proved that he might be the best all-around wrestler in the company when it comes to special rules matches by going through this insane gauntlet and coming out the end wearing gold.  Early on it was The Convict who unleashed a fury of destruction on the other combatants as he leveled his competition with right hands and clotheslines.  He even used the steel cage as a weapon harkening back to his days as an inmate in various prisons across America where he brutalized the general population most notably Johnson was busted open and bleeding from the forehead do to The Convict’s rampage.  But it didn’t take long for the rest of the wrestlers to start working as a team against The Convict.  First it was Bobby Starr who jumped out of the way of an errant splash, resulting in The Convict smashing against the steel cage.  Next up was Morte who landed a perfect flying elbow to The Convict’s head, and then it was Jacobs’ turn as he hit The Convict across the jaw with a flying kick.  Finally all three men executed a triple dropkick and sent The Convict crashing down to the mat.

From there, Morte jumped up to the cables where he advanced towards the hanging belt, only to be brought down hard by a spinebuster from Starr.  Now straddling the ropes, Morte was drop kicked again by Jacobs who had a running start this time as Morte’s limp body crashed against the steel cage.  By this time, Johnson had recovered and went one on two against Jacobs and Starr and cleaned house with both.  Johnson then leaped up to the cables and began his first ascent at grabbing the Impact Division belt.  But it was Jacobs, again with the dropkick from the top of the turnbuckle that sent Johnson spiraling out of control and back down to the canvas.  Later in the bout, it was Morte, who was also busted open and bleeding everywhere, and had his legs wrapped around the belt as he hung from the cable almost choked out by Jacobs using a modified triangle choke and finally castoff from the ropes by Johnson who dragged his body back down to the mat.  Morte was razor close here in regaining the title.  Next it was a bloody Starr’s turn to go for gold, but he got a belly to back suplex from The Convict and was toast.  In one of the more memorable moves of the match, Jacobs was dangling from the cable as The Convict held on to his feet.  From there, Johnson hit the ES2 on Jacobs destroying Jacobs’ face and head as it crashed down with wicked force to the mat below.  Another awesome move was when The Convict went for the title and was hanging on the cable.  Led by Johnson all four wrestlers delivered a quadruple powerbomb onto The Convict that spelled the end for the former champion.

Seizing the moment, all four remaining wrestlers each jumped up to a corner and began the final ascent towards the belt that was still hanging in the middle of the ring.  All four men met at the center at the same time and kicked furiously at one another trying to take one another out.  Starr fell first, then Morte and finally Jacobs.  Johnson was the last man hanging from the cables and proceeded to snatch the title free and become the new Impact Division Champion!

In other action, youth was served as Chad Thomas defeated The Midnite Rider in a route.  Thomas dominated as he was on the offensive the whole bout including when he landed a perfect European Uppercut to Rider’s jaw that put the veteran on dizzy street for the rest of the bout with the exception of one moment where Rider landed a bionic elbow on Thomas.  The end came with a kick to the body by Thomas followed by a discus clothesline that put Rider down and out for good.  Thomas has the brute strength to compete against anybody and also has a solid mat-based style that makes him even more dangerous.  It will be interesting to see what the future holds for this blue-chip prospect.

In the women’s division, Venus continued her winning streak by defeating Angel Blue as a late replacement for Madam Commissioner Erica.  The bout was stacked in Venus’ favor from the very beginning as Erica was ringside and got physical with Blue by landing a punch to Blue’s face.   Venus dominated the early going including an awesome series of moves including a bow and arrow on Blue followed by a dragon sleeper.  But Blue fought back landing a well-timed neckbreaker that took the air out of Venus.  But Venus recovered and landed a Samoan drop, followed up by Erica interferring one more time.  With the ref distracted by Shawn McHale, Erica clobbered Blue with her shoe and fell right into a Venus Envy as the ref counted 1-2-3.

Poster coming soon!

Central Canada’s premier cage fighting event returns on January 19 as Xtreme Cage Wars (XCW) presents XCW Fighting Championship 53 – Devastation at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton, SK, Canada.  Devastation will be jam packed with exciting fights, including two title fights, as XCW is a breeding ground for up and coming Canadian blue chip prospects ready to make a name for themselves on a global level.

In the main event, Evander Masuskapoe (4-4-1) battles Denny Heathen (2-2) for the vacant Middleweight Championship.  Masaskapoe is one of the linchpins of Xtreme Cage Wars and has KO power in both hands.  He’s one of the most exciting fighters on the scene and throws every punch with bad intentions looking to end the night in a flurry of fists.  Heathen is a crowd favorite who fights with a high risk/high reward style.  This is a huge opportunity for Heathen who hails from Saskatchewan and will be fighting in front of a huge hometown crowd.

In the co-main event, Matthew Fiddler (3-1) fights Dillon Adam (1-6) in a Bantamweight Title Fight.  Fiddler comes into the bout as champion, which he won in at the end of 2012 by defeating Adam with a guillotine submission choke in round one.  Fiddler is an expert grappler and has won all three of his victories via tapout in the first round.  Expect him to look for a takedown early and often and try to get the fight down to the mat.  Adam gets his shot at revenge with this match as the two square off once again.  Adam has a lot of incentive as he can defeat a fighter who already beat him, plus walk away with gold if he scores the win.

In the main event, former AAMMA Lightweight Champion Cody “Hostile” Harris (7-4) gets his shot at revenge as he takes on the man that beat him for the title, current AAMMA Welterweight Champion Robert Ingram (5-4) in a grudge match.  Back in 2012, Ingram defeated Harris via split decision that had the crowd torn on who won the fight.  Both fighters fought a great fight, but the judges gave the nod to Ingram because of his ability to land the harder shots.   AAMMA officials did what great promoters do and issued an immediate rematch so the two will fight once again in the cage and hopefully this time settle their feud.  Will this be a continuation of their first match, or will game plans change and strategies evolve?  Tune in to see what happens.

In other action, with the AAMMA Middleweight Championship on the line, William Underwood (4-3) battles Josh Downing (3-2) for the vacant title.  Underwood is a AAMMA vet having fought every fight in his career under the banner.  Underwood has been a consistent performer who is coming off a 9 second KO in his last bout.  Underwood likes to push the pace and has only had one fight in his career go to a decision.  Downing comes into the bout with an opportunity to win a championship early in his career.  A Midwest fighter from Ohio, Downing loves to grind down his opponents and rack up points using pinpoint striking and strong wrestling that gives him clear cut decisions.  This fight will be a shootout as both fighters will be looking to win the gold strap.

Chaotic Christmas Preview of GFL.tv

Poster coming soon!

The Winter Classic is finally here as IZW presents Chaotic Christmas on December 22, live at the Impact Arena in Lawton, Oklahoma and broadcast throughout the world on GFL.tv.  IZW closes out a historic year as 2012 saw the promotion grow by leaps and bounds worldwide as it continued its weekly series on GFL and landed a blockbuster deal with Comcast which now airs one IZW show per month coast to coast in over 22 million  households, extending the IZW brand in North America.  Chaotic Christmas will be the culmination of several feuds as Impact Zone Wrestling looks to put an exclamation mark on this year!

In the main event, IZW Heavyweight Champion Double D puts his title on the line against #1 Challenger and 6-time IZW Heavyweight Champion “The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil in what quite possibly could be the Match of the Year in IZW.  Double D has been a fighting champion taking on all-comers ever since he won the title in a TLC Match at Halloween Hangover earlier this year.  Double D has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he has the biggest heart in all of wrestling and can overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.  But this will be D’s toughest test to date as Neil has the championship experience and pedigree that makes him almost unbeatable.  If Double D has any chance to retain his title headed into 2013, he will need to bring his A-Game as Neil is hell bent on making history and winning the title for a historic 7th time.  To spice things up, “The Natural Born Leader” Johnny Z will be in the center of the ring as the special referee to call the action right down the middle.  Z is coming off a hot feud with Neil that saw two epic battles, one in a Steel Cage Match and another in a Lumberjack Match.  Double D, Neil and Z are all full of piss and vinegar so expect fireworks in this bout.  Adding to this combustible concoction is Madam Commissioner Erica, who will no doubt make her presence known, and you have all the ingredients for a grandiose explosion. Anything can and will happen when “The Force” meets “The Bronze Bull”.

In other action, for the first time ever, the Impact X Match will make its debut!  The Impact X comes from the twisted, maniacal mind of former Impact Division Champion Damien Morte.  Five wrestlers in total including current Impact Division Champion The Convict, Morte, Jermaine Johnson, “Lights Out” Jordan Jacobs and “The Brass Bull” Bobby Starr will compete in steel cage where the Impact Division Title will be suspended above the ring by cables.  Jermaine Johnson has proven in the past that he is the master of special rules matches but this bout will put the Leader of the Hype Section to the ultimate test.  This star-studded list of grapplers is a who’s who in the Impact Division.  Four of the five wrestlers have won this title at one time or another and the final competitor, Starr, is at the top of his game right now, as he showed only a few weeks ago by defeating IZW Heavyweight Champion Double D in a non-title bout.  Let’s not forget about The Convict as he has looked unstoppable and being trapped with other wrestlers inside of a steel cage will only make him draw back on his prison days when he was king of the yard and when violence solved everything.  Don’t blink during this match as you are guaranteed to see things you never witnessed in a wrestling ring.

Also on the docket is a momentous tag team match with the IZW Tag Titles on the line as Champions Big Business (Damon Windsor & Kevin Morgan) defends their titles in a Last Chance Tag Team Championship Match against the Old School Suckas (Randy Price & Bryan Cruize).  This feud has brewed, bubbled and boiled over for most of 2012.  From debilitating chair shots, to gangland style beat downs, BB and the OSS have waged war against each other all over the Impact Arena and it finally comes to a head at Chaotic Christmas when the Suckas get one final shot at the straps.  This is a make or break match for both teams as if Big Business wins they are through with dealing with the Old School Suckas.  And if the Suckas win they once again become the top dogs in the tag team division.

The tag team division will be on display earlier in the evening as Aerial Assault (Dane Griffin & Joe Herell) battles Team Remix (Cody Jones & Copycat) in a #1 Contenders Match.  Both AA and Team Remix have shown they are worthy of a title shot as both teams hold wins over the current champs Big Business.  Both teams are known for their athleticism and fast paced wrestling and will give the fans their monies worth as this bout could steal the show.  The winner of this bout will be in line for a career-changing opportunity as the #1 Challengers to the Tag Team Titles.  The last time these two teams squared off it was even Steven as they wrestled to a time limit draw.  Expect both teams to pull out all of the stops and go for broke leaving no question in anyone’s mind as to who the better team is.

Also in action Madam Commissioner Queen Erica will once again step into the ring to battle Angel Blue for the IZW Queen’s Crown.  Just a few short weeks ago Erica proved to every female in the territory that she is all business and about broke Blue in half with two different torture racks.  As the leader and figurehead of Impact Elite, Erica is as ruthless as they come and her match with Blue will give her another opportunity to show that.  For Blue, the former Queen of IZW, this is a chance to make things right.  Blue deserves lots of credit for stepping back into the ring with Erica on such short notice and no way near 100% physically.  Blue has proven she’s as gritty as they come, male or female, and will look to even the score with Erica no matter what the physical toll on her own body might be.

Texas native Chad Thomas wrestles IZW veteran the Midnite Rider in still more action.  Thomas is a newcomer to IZW but anyone familiar with the Oklahoma/Texas territory knows Thomas has already left a trail of broken bodies in his wake.  Thomas is looking to make a splash in IZW and he’ll get that opportunity as he battles the cagey and distinguished Midnite Rider.  Rider’s forgotten more about wrestling than most wrestlers will ever know.  Will Thomas’ strength and power be enough to conquer the man who has more than four decades of experience?  We will find out at Chaotic Christmas.

IZW TV Review for December 15

Poster coming soon!

The December 15 edition of IZW TV on GFL was the final show before the highly anticipated iPPV, Chaotic Christmas, comes to wrestling fans worldwide on December 22.  This event electrified the Impact Arenas as the wrestlers of IZW had their blood boiling and emotions running high just seven days before the iPPV.  Impact Rules Matches ruled the night so there was plenty of pain and punishment dished out from the All-Star roster of IZW.

To start the night off, “Lights Out” Jordan Jacobs defeated Copycat in an Impact Rules Match.  The ladder played a starring role in this bout and was used several times throughout the match.  Early on, Copycat was able to whip Jacobs into the corner where the ladder stood crushing Jacobs’ rib cage against the metal.  Copycat also ate his share of ladder as he missed Jacobs with a splash, landing face first into the steps.  Jacobs also landed double knees on Copycat against the ladder, which was twice as devastating as normal, because the back of Copycat’s head bounced off the ladder while his chest took the brunt of Jacobs’ knees.  Jacobs continued his onslaught as he choked Copycat, but Copycat turned the tide once again with a power slam out of nowhere, followed by a knee to Jacobs’ throat.  A missed Doppelganger by Copycat was all Jacobs needed to turn the tide one more time in his favor.  Jacobs climbed up the ladder as Copycat followed.  They both struggled against one another until Jacobs landed a low blow kick that sent Copycat falling to the canvas.  From there Jacobs jumped off the ladder landing a leg lariat across Copycat’s throat and getting the pinfall.  Jacobs looked tremendous here resembling his days when he held the Impact Division Title.  If he comes into Chaotic Christmas like this, all the other wrestlers will be fighting for second place.

Later on, Erica was center stage as she let the audience know that she is the bee’s knees; as a 3-time All-American Olympic Style wrestler, 2-time California State Champion, National Champion, Professional Mixed Martial Artist, and all around Elite athlete with STATUS.  Erica was confident in her stable including “The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil reclaiming the World Title, and Big Business remaining Tag Team Champs.  “Thank you, Erica” was what the Madam Commissioner was repeating as Johnny Z and Heavyweight Champion Double D made their way on stage.  Z had heard enough of Erica’s self-glorification and got the crowd chanting “dragon breath” at the Queen of IZW.  Johnny Z then made an addition to the main event scheduled for later that night which was originally going to be Aaron Neil and Bobby Starr versus Johnny Z and Double D in an Impact Rules Match.  Z goaded Erica into accepting his challenge and competing with Neil and Starr while Z and Double D would have The Golden Goddess Venus as their partner!  It put the Golden Trinity into quite a bind but it was set in stone.

In the most violent match of the night, Jermaine Johnson and Damien Morte squared off in another Impact Rules Match.  Both wrestlers went hold for hold inside of the ring, but business really started to pick up once the action took a turn outside of the squared circle.  With Johnson regaining his composure outside of the ring, Morte executed a perfect suicide dive between the ropes as he nailed Johnson, knocking the wind out of both wrestlers.  Johnson was first up and pulled out two chairs from underneath the ring.  Johnson went to suplex Morte threw the tables, but Morte escaped out the back door and beat down Johnson with overhand rights.  Morte then laid Johnson’s prone body on the chairs and climbed up to the top rope where he summersaulted outside of the ring, crashing down on Johnson below as the chairs crumbled under the impact.   Both wrestlers eventually made their way to the ring where they were assaulted by Bobby Starr and Jordan Jacobs who used the opportunity to soften up their opponents for the Impact X Match at Chaotic Christmas.  Because it was an Impact Rules Match, the bout continued.  Johnson and Morte fought back and started to turn the tide just as the Impact Division Champion, The Convict, made his way down to the ring changing the tone of the match immediately.  Once The Convict was in the ring, all four men attacked the Champion putting the boots to The Convict.  But The Convict fought back giving clotheslines to Starr, Morte and Jacobs.  This gave Johnson time to regroup as he hit the ES2 on The Convict.  Johnson celebrated as Morte stood in the background and measured his opponent finally giving him a modified, swinging neck breaker using Morte’s own shin as a weapon.  The move sent Johnson down like a ton of bricks and Morte picked up the win in a wild match.  Johnson’s night wasn’t over as The Convict crawled back into the ring and hit his 15 to 20 finisher on the broken and battered Johnson.

In the main event, it was “The Natural Born Leader” Johnny Z, IZW Heavyweight Champion Double D, and Venus pitted against “The Bronze Bull” Aaron Neil, “The Brass Bull” Bobby Starr and Erica in a 6-Man Tag Team Match contested under Impact Rules.  Johnny Z paired off with Starr in the beginning of the match as the two traded headlocks before Neil tagged in and Z and Neil went at it.  The action made its way over to Z’s corner where Venus tagged herself in and kindly asked Neil to tag in Erica, which he reluctantly did.  Venus tore into Erica even getting a 2-count before Erica scurried out of the ring and tagged in Starr again.  Venus tagged in Double D and D proceeded to land a series of forearms against Starr’s head followed by 10 knees to the face of Starr which dropped him down to the mat.  D tagged in Z and Z went to work on Starr with measured right hands and blistering chops.  But Starr fought back giving Z a spinebuster on Z’s not fully healed back and transitioning into a single leg Boston Crab that put even more pressure on Z’s spine and lower back.  Z broke the hold and went back to doing what he does best, chopping the living hell out of people.  The chops were brutal as they almost tore a hole in Starr’s wrestling singlet.  Starr did his homework though as when Johnny Z went for his float over DDT, Starr was there to counter with a face plant sweep of his own.  After a quick tag in by Neil and then another by Starr, it was Erica who finally squared off with Venus one final time.  Venus landed two clotheslines, followed by a swinging neck breaker.  As the men took the action outside of the ring topped off by Double D jumping from the top rope onto the other three men, Venus seized her opportunity and gave Erica the Venus Envy that put the Commissioner’s lights out as the ref counted 1-2-3.

How does this effect Impact Elite?  Venus and Erica have had an on again off again relationship the whole history of Impact Elite and this bout only served to drive a bigger wedge between the two.  Johnny Z got exactly what he wanted from this match by winning another mind game against Erica, Neil and the whole Impact Elite crew.  Will this stunning turn of events play any part into how Neil prepares for his match at Chaotic Christmas on December 22?

Locked in the Cage 14 Review

Poster coming soon!

Locked in the Cage returned to GFL.tv, with Locked in the Cage 14 from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 7-bout card with 4 stoppages featured many of the top regional fighters along the East Coast as LITC is famous for being a launching pad and proving ground for blue chip prospects.

In a featured bout, fights Bellator veteran Christopher Wing (4-3) defeated Shedrick Goodridge (2-4) via split decision in a highly contested welterweight tussle. Both fighters gave a hell of a performance as Wing and Goodridge traded strikes and fought each other in the clinch for a good portion of the fight, with each fighter looking to gain the upper hand in leverage and either land a crushing strike or getting a takedown.  By the end, both fighters were exhausted and with good reason as they both left everything in the cage.  The bout was a test in perseverance as Wing looked for the takedowns throughout the bout as Goodridge used his reach advantage to land strikes. In the final round, Goodridge fought off a takedown attempt by Wing with everything he could think of including punches to the thigh of Wing, body shots and head shots.  But Wing was relentless and continued going for the double leg takedown.  Goodridge even landed a modified pile driver on Wing in the closing seconds of the bout.  Fight fans got their monies worth in this bout.

In the co main event, Matthew Ibbotson (5-5) defeated Matthew Kakareka (2-5) via unanimous decision.  Ibbotson was dominant in all three rounds as he was able to take Kakareka to the mat on numerous occasions and control the action as Ibbotson always maintained dominant position.  Ibbotson displayed a tremendous ground game using a measured approach.

Locked in the Cage always gives the fans KOs and submissions as the fighters are always looking for the finish. Be sure to catch all of the action from this exciting event now or anytime on video on demand as Locked in the Cage 14 airs on GFL.tv.

Ultimate Reno Combat 38 Review

Poster coming soon!

Northern Nevada's premier cage fighting event returned as Ultimate Reno Combat 38 premiered on GFL, at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. The card was an explosives one with finishes in 7 of 8 bouts.  Voted the #1 Amateur MMA Event in the Nation, URC always showcases the top up and coming fighters from around Nevada and California.

In the main event, for the URC Heavyweight Championship, Anthony "The Joker" McDonald (5-6) defeated Terrell Bosen (5-2) via TKO in round one to win the title.  It was what you would expect from these two goliaths as both men came out swinging looking to knock the other one out.  McDonald landed a high kick and a front kick that had Bosen backpedaling.  Then McDonald lunged in with punches dropping Bosen and followed Bosen to the mat where McDonald continued to throw a series of punches until the ref stopped the fight only a minute in.  McDonald is a huge heavyweight and his going to be a terror for any challengers that step up to face him in the URC cage.

In the co-main event, Oscar Ramirez (9-2) defeated Steve "The Gremlin" Gruber (3-2) via TKO due to a leg kick in round four to win the URC Flyweight Championship. It was fight of the night as Gruber was doing well earlier in the bout landing with hard punches and leg kicks of his own.  It was mostly a standup war that had Ramirez and Gruber going tit for tat, but Ramirez proved that he was a champion as he came back from the assault of Gruber and finished things off in the fourth.  In the final round, Ramirez dropped Gruber with a leg kick and followed up on the mat with some nice ground and pound.  Gruber got back to his feet and the next strike Ramirez threw was another leg kick that landed and crumbled Gruber causing the ref to stop the bout and award the win to Ramirez.
