Aggression Fighting Championship returns on GFL.tv with AFC 15 – The Ides on March 15 in front
of a vocal crowd at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada. The thrilling 13-bout pro/am
card is highlighted by two top-ranked pros who are looking to make a name for
themselves on a global basis. The fans
of Calgary are some of the most vocal anywhere on the planet and AFC and its
fighters are sure to bring down the house by presenting top caliber MMA action.
In the main event, TUF alum Michal “The Messenger” Hill (4-0)
battles Josh “The Soup” Kitchen (6-0) in a welterweight slugfest. Hill made it to the semi-finals on The Ultimate Fighter and his
unblemished record speaks for itself.
Hill packs a powerful punch, and has ended half of his bouts via
TKO. He is also a resilient fighter who
has shown he can dominate his opponents through three full rounds on his way to
picking up an overwhelmingly unanimous decision. Hill will be looking to build on this recent
success as he battles another fighter who is just as dangerous. Kitchen has made a name for himself on the
Canadian MMA circuit with impressive victories over top regional
completion. The undefeated Kitchen has
never had a fight go to decision and possesses one of the top all-around MMA
games in his division. Kitchen has the
ability to defeat you with his punches and kicks as well as his submission game
where he has also forced people to tapout.
This fight in the 170 lb division is shaping up to be a barnburner.
In the co-main event, standout Joel Powell (5-3) fights Marcus
Vinicios (5-7) in another fight in the welterweight division. Powell won his last fight via rear naked
choke in just over a minute and has defeated most of his foes in similar
fashion. Powell comes into the fight
with a proven track record of fighting his heart out and always looking to push
the pace to see if he can break his opponent’s will in the process. Vinicios is looking to regroup and start a
winning streak against Powell. A strong
grappler, Vinicios loves to get the fight down to the ground where he can be
effective. Look for this fight to be a
test of wills as both fighters will want to set the pace and keep the other
fighter second-guessing his attacks.
Also in action, Charmaine Tweet (2-3) fights undefeated prospect
Sy Jewett (2-0) in a women’s featherweight contest. Tweet won her last fight via submission to go
with an already strong kickboxing game.
Jewett is looking to put Tweet’s grappling game to the test as Jewett
has a solid submission game. Don’t
expect this fight to go to the distance as these women will be looking for a
stoppage.
On March 15, AFC 15 – The
Ides is sure to continue the top notch action Canada’s premier MMA
organization is known for. AFC always plays to a packed in house crowd
and now fight fans across the globe are in luck as this event will stream live
on the GFL Combat Sports Network at GFL.tv.
